·I would side with the casio/timex/seiko/citizen angle. Not out 2k when lost/damaged/stolen. It is a vacation and worrying about protecting the watch, while probably a habit, is just not fun. Maybe even get a watch at the airport when you land. You might not even have to set it. Like buying a Michael Hill watch in Australia (a local brand). Definitely a fun adventure in watch shopping and you probably didn't need much convincing to go watch shopping anyway. Have a great time shopping for a watch that meets your criteria! Sounds like a fun endeavor!
