Like most of you, I have a watch box that I use to hold all of my watches when not in use. At the moment, my rotation is down to one glorious watch (my shiny new Speedy Pro) and so the watch box has remained closed and I've taken to placing my Speedy on my (admittedly crowded) bedside table. It shares the space with my keys, reading glasses, phone charger and whatever other junk I've been too lazy to put away. I love my new Speedy and want to give it the caring, secure home it deserves, so I've been searching around for a small valet to place my watch on at night. Primarily, I just want something that I can place it in with a soft lining that keeps it separated from the other items on my nightstand. The nicest I've seen is Hodinkee's outrageously priced 7x8" suede valet tray. It fits the bill, but at $145 USD, I'm hoping I can find something less expensive. Grey Suede Valet Tray https://shop.hodinkee.com/products/large-grey-suede-valet-tray Many of you likely have a ritual that involves popping your daily watch into a winder of some sort or a watch box, but for those of you who place your watch on your nightstand, what, if any, kind of tray or valet do you use?
I've seen a few - I'm hoping for something with an it more class and quality. Kind of in-between eBay and Hodinkee.

Innocente huon pine - plenty of other styles besides mine below Check out their website http://www.innocente.com.au/image-gallery.html
Etsy has a whole range of valet trays at a wide range of prices and sizes, some can even be personalized. https://www.etsy.com/market/valet_tray Finding one in your price range shouldn't be too hard. Etsy's pretty good for such handmade stuff.
Leather strap maker panchoskywalker made some trays a while back. With bright coloured fabric lining giving it an attractive look. He is based in Chile and it shows in the multi coloured fabric design.
Maybe instead of just a valet consider a tray with multiple compartments to better organize all the stuff you have on there.
I just want to speak out against spending $10 on this project. And I'll echo the Etsy recommendation, it will be the best match for your money.
I keep my main watch box/winder on my bedside table but, just out of the shot below, is a small Tiffany style lamp ... I tend to hang the watch I've just taken off from that lamp so it can't pick up any small scratches from the loose change that gets turned out of my pockets ...
