Found this beautiful at first blush, then thought it may be a very well done redial due to the shape of the numerals on the hour subregister.... was I right or wrong - and what do you think of the price? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Belle-et-rare-montre-chronographe-UNIVERSAL-GENEVE-tri-compax-moon-phase-1950-/201536326703?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&nma=true&si=wj7q9dqkZ77j%2FxMR0yOsthtD%2BaU%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=ncPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Dial looks entirely original to me. The price is about what these sell for these days. It seems like a lot to me, but that;s the market.
I was the under bidder for this. Had to leave this with the snipe for a pretty high bid because it was ending very early in the morning and I would be asleep, very surprised I got outbid and sold for that much.
lovely watch. really nice patina on dial and quite a rare piece in that condition. At Christies, one of those fetched CHF4000 + buyers premium in 2009 so, considering what it fetched then, I think it went for below the market value. Universal Geneve 22297-2 at Christies Auction I have seen redials and here is one:
No, I just made another big purchase and haven't set up a watch fund... Until 2 years ago I wore 60 dollars quartz watches and neon colored "Ice Watch" divers.... funny how the bug bites. In any event I would not have bid if I had any lingering doubts-- I would have done full-on research.
Nice watch indeed...to my humble opinion those are still undervalued ...I missed one last year for aprox same price range and i still regret it.. Anyway congrats to the buyer... A.
