Cleaned this old lady today in preparation for a tour tomorrow. Certainly not the youngest, but rides brilliantly. Also, being 6”9, a frame that actually fits me is a rare find.

That's a big bike! What size frame is it? Did you have it custom made or are they commercially available?

They are, but it's the needle in the haystack. It's a 66cm frame, I'm not sure if the previous owner had it custom made from Faggin. It was priced to sell, though, as the gentleman was somehow struggling to find tall enough buyer. 😀

Just got back from a ride with my new Diverge Carbon Sport and have experience the same problem that has been occurring since I got the bike. The derailleur hanger keeps bending out of shape and the result is the chain keeps jumping out of gear. Has anyone else had this problem? I've taken the bike back 4 times to the shop to have this resolved and it keeps happening. Should I be demanding a new replacement or refund. I've kept my cool up to now but feel I'm about to loose it.

You've taken it back 4x and the shop hasn't replaced it?!?! If it's the model I am looking at, that's a 105-level part with a cost of around $40, it's a no-brainer to replace and see if that stops the issue. After you get this sussed out, a new LBS may be something to consider.

Had a great ride with my brother today, who was visiting from Maine.

My ride is the 2018 Trek Madone 9.8, his is a 1985 Ciocc with Campy Nuevo Record grupo...

We had another nice ride last night at sunset:

Just starting out but already hooked.

You're gonna be addicted, trust me. Sock game needs to improve, lose the gym socks. You'll appreciate what I'm saying when you do. 😎

HA! I’ve got two sets of kit (donated) and one pair of cycling socks. Know what you mean. Threw these on in a pinch.

Bug bit you hard. I didn't go road bike and full spandex for like a year. Enjoy the ride!!!

Definitely bit. Rode again this morning and ordered another set of kit. Definitely worse ways I can spend my time.

Yes congrats for joining the club. In my opinion, don't get too caught up in having all the fancy spandex, clothing, equipment etc. At the end of the day, it's your legs and lungs that will be your motor. When I did my first 24 hour race mountain bike race some 20 years ago, I was all decked out but was shamefully put into my place when a dude in cut-off jeans, tank top, slippers and a $200 bike destroyed everyone! I believed he almost lapped me twice!

P.S. I still like nice bikes though 😉

@fraglerock A great spot to ride for sure. Its a wonderful hobby. To add to the others, I personally don't get to caught up with weight either. It mostly affects acceleration (F = MA), and the effect of weight on your rolling resistance is negligible. If you have to sprint to win a race, sure - every gram matters. But outside of that, scraping to save 5g on carbon screws doesn't save a lick of effort. Aerodynamics / body position will take you far, far further. but as BPD said, its your legs and your lungs that get you through.

With a heat index of 114 in Houston today and 4 billion % humidity, I sadly took a rare opt out of my bike commute and took the BMW instead 😀.

My steel Bianchi, which I've been all over the country with and is very dear to me.

This is probably the wrong forum to say this, but if I had to choose between my bikes and my watches I'd be dumping the watches. Nothing beats cycling for me. I'm never happier than when I'm on my bike.

@gdupree I'm right there with you.
Being in Florida, we have very similar climates.
I literally have to FORCE myself to get out on the weekends...it is just so damn hot and sticky.
Plus, it can be totally sunny when you leave but then a torrential downpour will literally just form right above you...and I HATE getting all my stuff wet.
Although it does cool you down a bit hah.

Ugh. The pain is real. I've had some rides like that in Florida. I think the photo above is somewhere in Florida... If you stay moving the air flow is almost enough to keep you alive, but the moment you come to a stop the head and body turns into a red hot fireball with a dynamite core. Lol.

It's that "real feel" temp that gets ya.
Because I mean it REALLY feels like it is about 110 degrees!
It would be one thing if it was a dry heat. But it's not. Id take 110 with low humidity over 80 with substantial humidity.
