Some lovely kit on show and if you can't hijack a thread from @Hijak ?

Always been a Cannondale guy although now riding a sit up and beg model 馃檨 The majority of my real cycling was in Switzerland, mountain biking following bisses etc. and then long climes and fast descents on a road 2.0 with full Dura Ace 馃榿
Happy days and one quick shot of my early m/b - some of the finest times were in winter.

@Mad Dog , I'm such a bike geek I know the logo on your seat...it's a Selle San Marco, Rolls model. I had one of those on an old Schwinn Curcuit I had back in the early 80s. Also thought I'd share some snaps of my Paramount with you. Mine is an 89 as well, its even the same color! Purchased this as a frame new in 89 and built it up myself. Although my drive train is made up of Suntour Superbe Pro components everything else is Dura Ace. Suntour went out of business, I think in 96, and I picked up several replacement chainrings, cassetes and chains to tide me over, so far so good! I've also rebuilt the wheels a few times, tons of miles on this bike and still solid as a rock.

Notice the Campy housing...all campy housings and cables!

Built this set of wheels about six years ago (three cross on the rear and radially laced in the front) using DT double butted spokes and Mavic Open Pro rims (welded seams and machined side walls), they have held up well even on the crappy Chicago streets.

Have a few other bikes as well (last one on the right is my daughters)...

Use my Paramount for training mostly but on fast group rides I take out my Carbon Trek with Campagnolo Record componants...

What a huge coincidence that we both have the same year and color Paramount!馃憤 Yours looks excellent and its nice to see that Richard Schwinn still looks after the Paramounts that he had built in Waterford. At the handbuilt bike show in Indianapolis back in 08 I had a chance to meet him and talked about his restoration program for the Paramount. He mentioned that they had all of the old decal designs and paint colors, after seeing yours I'm considering this for mine!

Cheers
I went to Prep school with Richard.
He's a card.
His father donated 10 unicycles to the school
and we all learned to ride them.
I've got a few Road bikes and a MB,
But this is my favorite:
2009 Trek Madone 5.1 in Livestrong livery.
Ultegra components. Same bike Alberto Contador
won the 2008 Tour on.(The Modone 6.9 wasn't ready,
so they put 6.9 stickers on the 5. What a bike!
Like a Ferrari.

Hmmm... There seem to be some interest in classic bikes here. Cannot resist... Have to show off... It is your fault.

Here's my new Specialized Allez Expert. I'm coming from a Cannondale Bad Boy hybrid, so this is a huge upgrade to say the least. And it's really fast, even with my big ass on it.馃榿

Hardtail, as it's bike day. You can't get these anymore, as obviously Schwinn no longer exists (the real company)

wow, fantastic collection! Do they still get ridden?

Thanks! Well...Some of them.

But not nearly as much as they deserve (and I need). I am a fat middle aged guy and would benefit from using them daily.

As you can see they are all the same framesize (59cm c/c +/- 1cm) so I have always had the intention of riding them. I would not collect a bike that was not my size. And though some of them are really old they are all built to be used - with NOS bearings, freewheels and chains, etc. They are ready to use. This collection has accumulated over a very long period. So long that some of the bikes were bought new by me, then used in racing and then suddenly one day I realized they were vintage... I started training in the early 80-ies and started collecting vintage bikes and parts in the mid 80-ies. At that time Campagnolos Nuovo and Super Record parts were replaced with C-record and the older parts were almost given away by the shops (and I got a lot). At that time I used the C-record parts on my new bikes and today they are as sought after by collectors as the older parts.

I try to take every bike for a short spin now and then (except for the Ferretti/Masi/Monark as it is a real museum piece - and worth quite a lot).

If I mean business though it comes down to these three:
For real rough stuff - the old French Meral picknick/randonnee/touring - here in Liguria, Italy
Apr1.jpg Bildere124-1.jpg

For serious bicycling (seriously...I just pose... I am in a really lousy shape). This old Merckx MX Leader in Merckx own mix of Columbus Max tubing. This was the last hooray of the steel frames in professional racing in the mid 90-ies. After that alu and carbon took over. These colours were used by the Motorola team. I built it up with modern parts - a Campagnolo Super Record 11 group when that came on the market around 2009. Good mix of traditional and modern.
8158372561_549072b9b7_b.jpg

For drinking wine and showing off at credit card touring in the rolling landscape of the French wine districts - again an old Eddy MX Leader but this time in the colours of the French GAN-team. Mix and match of Campagnolo Record tripple and "normal" Record 10V - including the bar end shifters (meant for triathletes in the front of their aero bars - but this is the traditional 60-ies placement). Shiny bike. Preciousss...my pprecioussssss...

In the mid nineties when I lived in Colorado I purchased a Cannondale F-2000, it was the bike Tinker Juarez rode...should have bought the Homegrown! Ah, 20-20 hindsight.馃槈
