I've been a strap guy to this point but I wanted to track down a BOR just to see how it feels and looks on the wrist. Based upon Desmond's incredible site, these bracelets were offered as accessories and therefore there is no correct pairing for a Constellation or a Seamaster. Is this still the current understanding? This will go on a Constellation and I'm trying to decide between a 7 row or a 9 row BOR. Based upon pictures I've seen, it appears that most people prefer the 7 row. Is there a particular reason why? Does the 7 row look better or is there another issue with the 9 row (i.e. comfort, functionality) to consider? Why did you choose one particular version over the other? Thanks.
I think the 7 row (5 rows of rice beads) came out several years before the 9 row (7 rows of rice beads). I prefer the earlier version based on looks alone. They seem to show up on Constellations and Seamasters more often, and the later version is often paired with Seamaster DeVilles. Maybe knowing that the SMDV is a lesser watch affects my opinion of both bracelets though.
The 9 rows tend to be seen more often on the 14900/167.005 style cases which were introduced in 1960 about the same time as the uni-shell Seamasters which evolved into the SMDV. Really down to personal preference more than any functionality issues. What reference Constellation do you have?
It's a stainless steel 2852 with the big arrowhead markers. I can't get to my pictures now but it currently has a brown strap. Sounds like most would go with the 7 row for this reference.
Check out this thread, it shows examples of the 2852 with 7 and 9 row styles. http://omegaforums.net/threads/constellation-2852-gold-cap-on-bor-bracelet.2337/
Thanks for the link. I see that Cicindela has a 9 row BOR on his gold cap 2852 but that watch would look incredible with a piece of string and a couple of safety pins. I think I'm on the hunt for a 7 row stainless BOR mostly because it seems more versatile in case I want to move it around. Thanks to everyone for the input.
Too Funny! I just asked PitPro about a BOR bracelet for my Seamaster. His photo-shopped version of my actual watch on a BOR has me searching for one. IMHO this is stunning especially on an all stainless watch. What do ya' think?
There is certainly has been a lot of arguing about tension ring colors over the years. I even argued against it. Best I can say at this point is what Desmond said, usually it matches the case. It may be one of those things that comes down to percentages. http://omega.watchprosite.com/show-...-0/fi-677/pi-5362953/forumpostf.do_bLoB_s-20/
Black dial Seamaster with gold lettering / hands / markers, gold retainer ring, gold bezel & crown, stainless case, two tone Beads of Rice bracelet….. ….. and I sold it.
Superb for sure! I love the contrast with the stainless especially when you add in the gold furniture.
Heyo, 5 years late to the convo here. Anyways, I've been scouring every thread I can find looking for the proper 7 row BOR end links for my 2848. Are these number 11 end links?
