A lady rally racer from the 1960s was on a recent episode of the BBC Flog It series.
I don’t tend to watch Television , but knowing I had a watch interest a relative ‘called it back’ using some form of modern TV magic.
The Heuer stopwatch had been modified to fit on a dashboard. The watch was identified as an unbranded chronograph, but it looked like it was a triple date as well. I thought the estimate was way too low for the lot…..£150-£200. Anyone want to guess the actual sale price and I wonder what the watch brand was?

Watch looks like either a val 72C or 730 which is definitely not at least 150-200...

The lady said the watch may have been a prototype/ not sure why it was unbranded. A valjoux 72c maybe as you suggest?
They did not show the case back or movement. The lot sold for more than the estimate, but I think depending on what people here think the value is the buyer still got a bargain…..

I am quite sure that watch is a Gallet ref. 998, and indeed powered by a Valjoux 72c. The chamfers on the lugs and the dial design match. And I'm not certain I've ever seen this case and dial in any other calendar chronograph. Curious is the absense of the Gallet logo, perhaps it has faded? Below is a pic of an example from ebay.

Well the lot (both watches) sold on the hammer for £1200 plus fees which I think were 20%. Someone had a good eye / did well. The valuation was well off the mark!
