This shows the emotional connection and attachment people have to watches. No new technical information on here, more fun than anything.

Makes me feel bad I felt go of my Luis Cartier (Quartz) miss the bugger, even if it is a Q

I regret selling my Omega Seamaster auto circa 2004 black face triangular marker at 12. Will never be able to get new one at 2004 prices again.

Never mind.

Thanks for posting. I thought it was very well done.

Thank you. Shame video quality was not to good, but content made up for it.

Pretty excellent video.

Still, the thing that bugs me about this documentary and the videos that Hodinkee produces is the same:

They focus heavily on the Big collectors who have hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars in watches - who own rare one of a kind Rolex's or Patek Philippe's or vintage grails.

In doing so, they lack representation of the more modest collectors and more reasonably priced watches.

Modesty doesn't make good TV - not interesting to the viewer. He wants wretched excess, obsession run amok.

Very true in the lack of representation of more modest vintage. However, there is one video that of Hodinkee where collector has high end and modest.

Enjoy the video.

Yes! I distinctly remember that episode. It was refreshing.

Made me chuckle, very dismissive of quartz (yeah I know, I know) yet featured a Patek Beta21 time after time in the images and cutaways

While the video was interesting, it portrayed a very limited segment of the watch collecting world which I would characterize as the "gaudy" segment.

The thing is, yes, the video does focus on those high end (and rather bling) pieces. but the spirit of the collectors is the same regardless s of the actual taste of the collectors. I can't imagine any Gold Daytona with diamonds or gold sub with diamonds being right for me, (never say never but...never) but I do understand the discussions between dealer and buyer, and the spirit that drives these buyers. So obviously very few of the watches portrayed (I like the peruvian and the Patek are of interest for me (I also like Cartier as a brand), but I completely feel the documentary does.

You do capture the feeling of the video. I think that is what it is all about. That thing could mean different things for different people. For example, quality (yes), bling (yuk), discretion (yes), achievement, craftsmanship (yes) all sorts.
