Was expecting it, going to be interesting how and when the brands will release their new models.

I'm guessing brands won't be releasing anything with the likely supply chain issues and the now lack of Baselworld as a forum for releasing their models to the press etc.

New releases are ready to go, they'll be released. Supply chains for Swiss watches will be fine.

I doubt that. I imagine they will just take to social media and other online outlets.

First and foremost is the concern about health, and so this move makes sense.

Beyond the health aspect, if I were Basel, after some brands already pulled out, I鈥檇 be very nervous as now even more brands will see they don鈥檛 need this annual event.

Baselworld and the Geneva shows were already mostly irrelevant in todays environment, this will hasten their demise.

Indeed a precautionary decision... just now that I planned something on the subject of "" 50 years Rolex in space "" ...
Luckily a publication has been made !

So with 2020 being moved to Jan 21, Would they bother to do one again in April 2021? Or will it literally have been one show since the 2019 finished and the 2022 show begins.
Seems strange to defer it until only a few weeks before the pencilled date for the 21 show should take place.

It can't help that brands like the Swatch Group, Breitling, LVHM, etc. have pulled out of the event.

My guess is BW is calling it a postponement until 2021 so they can weasel out of refunding vendors. There鈥檚 no way Rolex, Patek, and whoever else is left are doing 2 shows that close to each other.
