As of last week, I'm a new - and very happy - owner of a BB58. Stunning watch - I couldn't be more pleased!
Some owners might have noticed that there seems to be a "phantom" position for the crown when setting the time, that doesn't seem to do anything to advance the hands or anything else. I'm wondering if it's possible that's intentional, and that Tudor has designed the (new) in-house movement of the BB58 to allow for a date function on the next iteration that simply isn't present on the current version....Then "ta da!" Tudor BB58-D, for date!
For what it's worth, I LOVE the fact that the BB58 doesn't have a date window. Nearly every other piece in my collection is vintage, and has day/date/month and/or moonphase display that needs to be set before I can strap it on without my OCD kicking in. The BB58 is gorgeous, and "grab go" with only the time that needs to be set. It will see a lot of time on my wrist as a result!

Congrats ! I gave a call to an AD last week in order to be on the list, but there are also some good chances that I want to buy the new BB58 from Baselworld if colors are interesting (such a blue one) or the new Submariner if this is no BS so a part of hopes that I don't receive any call fore an available BB58 before Baselworld.

I'm pretty sure they'll decline the 58 in different colors, and even maybe a new dial ? A whole new model I don't believe it that much but well we can be surprised.

Man, whatever it is I'm betting on matte dial given the teasers we've seen on IG. Dare I assume a pencil hands remake of the sub?

I'm probably out money again.

I want to believe this. It's funny because I sound a bit like a fanboy while I'm normally not that much interested in what brands are releasing. Tudor must has its marketing done right. 😵‍💫

It would be great if they did a modern interpretation of the 79090 , & personally prefer it they used Mercedes hands over snowflake and with a date . But it wouldn't be a deal breaker to me & looking forward to the unveiling ,so let's see what Basel brings .

I think that would be a huge mistake for them as it would stunt their growing perception as their own brand. The Mercedes hands traditionally scream Rolex, whose shadow the group is trying to move away from to increase market appeal, to say nothing of adding to the perception that Tudor is, in some form, another homage brand with which the market is flooded.

"What's that, a Rolex?"

"No, a Tudor."

"Looks like a Rolex. I had a Steinhart/Invicta/Insert Name/ that looked just like that, but for less money."

Well every time I've worn diver watches like SMP300 ou Tudor BB red some non watch people would told "Oh it looks like a Rolex". They didn't know anything about watches but in their mind bezel + dark colored dial + bracelet + big indexes = Rolex, so I wouldn't worry about that.

That's your experience and I respect that. What I was referring to are fellow watch enthusiasts, however. For example. I am not a Rolex fan, save for a model like the Milgauss. That said, I've been finding myself drawn to Tudor for the past 5-7 years, and have become an owner of a Fastrider. I was pining for a BB GMT, but got tired of waiting for a new one (refused to get gouged on a used model). I'm a huge fan of the Pelagos line and will likely look to grab one eventually.

So, I would hate to see Tudor return back to being another Rolex clone, AKA a cheaper alternative to Rolex. And that is what I believe the perception would be amongst most collectors. Perhaps I'm projecting, but it's now I see it.

I understand your point. In my mind no true watch enthusiast with a hint of knowledge regarding Rolex and Tudor would be like

""What's that, a Rolex?"
"No, a Tudor."
"Looks like a Rolex. I had a Steinhart/Invicta/Insert Name/ that looked just like that, but for less money.""

to quote your previous post. However some of them would definitely think as you, that they like Tudor but don't want to see Tudor being again a "cheaper alternative to Rolex" using the same codes such as mercedes hands and I can perfectly understand that.

I definitely prefer the direction Tudor has taken for the last few years, however it wouldn't bother that much if they made a new Tudor sub as long as it tastefully done and not just a copy of Rolex (but I don't really worry about that).

Time will tell. 😀

Well it seems that it will be a sub.
Can't do much with the image in Photoshop, but you can tell it has a Sub style serrated edge bezel. Does it look black dialed too?

Looks kinda like a modern interpretation of a 79090 to me . Interesting that only the minute hand is visible , thus keeping the hour hand shrouded in darkness until the big reveal . Is it a snowflake or Mercedes ....

Good question. They said that they were going to put their own twist on it so I hope it won't be Mercedes hands.
