·PVD is a process, not a material. It's physical vapor deposition, and it's used to put a thin coat of (supposedly) protective hard material over a base metal.

The better the coating material and the thicker the layer, the longer it lasts without wearing off.
good info. I stand corrected. The end state is the same, if the process is of poor quality then we'll have pesky results. 😁
