Omega has released a 2013 re-issue of the classic Seamaster Bullhead from the 1960s, powered by a modern movement and available in black and white dials, both with a square guilloche style dial finishing, and a silver machine finished style dial, all with an inner rotating bezel. Omega has even managed to maintain the exact sub-dial layout and strap/crown arrangement which is rather impressive for such an unusual watch design. This is definitely a re-issue that has gone to significant lengths to stay faithful to its original. Pictures below were taken by Robert-Jan from www.fratellowatches.com, he's no doubt going to have more details soon so check their blog for updates! (Update: Click Here For More pics and details on Fratello now) Oh, and pricing sounds like 8000 CHF + tax. The old school Seamaster bullhead has always been much loved among Omega collectors, including many guys on OF, great to see it back again:
Difficult to tell from the photos, but it does look like it suffers a little from the Planet Ocean curse.. meaning it's thicker than your wrist and will be destined to take chunks out of door frames whenever you walk past.
I wouldn't doubt that, but its one of those edge cases like the Ploprof where if they didn't make it that thick, it would lose some of its coolness Movement is a Calibre 3113 based on a modified Frederique Piguet calibre, and it looks like its already in Omega's new instruction manual too
The white with the roulette wheel GMT bezel is still a great classic design. The old soccer timers with this configuration also look great ' it's good to see its still being used.
Is it just me or are omega actually on a roll this year? There have been some really brave, mostly successful watches announced....
I think Omega is on a bullrun despite the market sentiments....and yes...the Omega stuff at Basel....anytime better then Rolex...That's a real frank and unbiased opinion...
Agree ........ this year Omega really works hard to launch winning models, and I think they succeed ion many fronts. No comment on Rolex since I don't follow them.
