hi everyone. I was at a garage sale and found this tucked away in a pile and bought it for a dollar (doesn't seem bad for a buck!). It looks nice and it runs (not sure how long t will hold time, but I am having trouble determining if it is:
    1) real.
    2) original or pieced together.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Barry

Wow that's a great pick up, not sure of the model but looks authentic to me. Well done.

Looks original. It's had a dirty life, & needs a good clean. Total bargain.
Now you know it works, stop using it until it has been serviced.

Not sure about the authenticity of the dial finish - the "Automatic" does not look right. These usually have the word in a stylised font with a lower case 'a' at the start.

The movement however is a peach. Zenith were late to the automatic party and only introduced their first bumper, the 133, after most had switched to fully rotating oscillating weights. Because of this, the 133 and the later 133.8 and 71 movements are probably the best bumpers ever made. Your one, the 133 is much more scarce than the 133.8 The cal. 71 is a 133.8 with date complication and is the rarest of the lot.

Refinished dial, and, sadly, even the (excellent) movement is in poor shape.

Not even attractive as a parts watch, IMO.

I think the crown was replaced unless Zenith made them without the star emblem at one point and the band is not original, but I agree, for a buck it was a worthy gamble!

Yeah. Not a great looking watch.

But you could sell it and have a few nice meals.
