The kid’s birthday gift finally cleared customs. Picked it up this morning at DHL after miraculously succeeding in walking out of the IL Secretary Of State with a new set of plates for his car. A covid miracle. This thing is nice. Sets beautifully.

Very nice looking model, but I think these days for me to buy a GMT watch it'd have to have at least either (preferably both) a quickset hour hand or a bidirectional bezel. I love a budget GMT (for serious: I have bought 2 in a row from Yema) but found myself moving on rather quickly when finding the functionality rather limited. It's ultimately why I was able to easily resist the Hodinkee Unimatic GMT despite how good-looking it was...

I own a modern GMT Master II. Only pain on this is the date set. Overall for just north of 1 K, this is one hell of a watch.

Very nice. Love the case back with all the timezones so you know how to set up the watch to read whichever times you prefer.
