Back from servicing

Just got my Seamaster (2551.80) back from being serviced. I had bought it last summer and it had started running pretty slow, so I sent it to the Omega SC in Secaucus, N.J.
Judging from all the parts they sent back with it, it looks like they replaced the whole inside of my watch! If I had any watchmaking tools, I might be able to build a second watch out of these parts! LOL!
I can't say yet how well it keeps time, but the watch sure does look good.

How long did it take to get it back?
Two months. They received it on 05/29, and I got it back today (07/28). The original estimated completion day was 08/10.

This service my watch received brings a question to mind. The estimate I received back in May stated that "the dial is marked and/or scratched" and "the hands are marked and/or scratched". My question is: how does this happen?? How does something inside the watch get marked/scratched??

Her name is Angel....but she isn't. 馃榿

A friend of mine had a dog called "Pest". Spot-on 馃憤

His mother, still living in the same household, was called "Puppy" just to confuse everyone.

It had been opened up before. By someone a bit less than careful than they should have been.

I just realized what was different about my watch when I got it back: my clasp is no longer polished - it's now brushed. I guess they did this when they got the scratches out.

Well, the claps on this never came polished. They were brushed, which means Omega returned it back to their standards.

Really? Both of mine were polished - but I did get them used, so the PO may have had them polished.
Seems as if I've read somewhere that one of the minor complaints about this watch was that because the clasp is polished, it tends to show scratches very readily...

Older watches are often subject to polishing when they go in for servicing. Not all watch makers are the same and won鈥檛 always apply proper techniques, meaning: if this watch or your other watch had gone in for polishing and the watch maker wanted to buff out the scratches, polishing will be the quickest way to do this. It take less effort to polish than to apply the same manufacture brush graining. I have owned several of these and every clasp was brushed.

I thought it was the other way around. The brushed finish shows scratches more readily. Have I had it backwards?
