Got my 166.010 back form service. Dial isn't too bad if you don't look closely; the lacquer is bubbling a bit. CLA of the movement including bushing out where the rotor shaft goes, touchup on the case, refinished bracelet. Still has the original crown as he was able to replace the crown gasket. This is the version with the curved sides on the case, and I think he did a good job. Sorry for the fingerprints, didn't think to wipe it down before I took the pics.

KO 2627 soon!

Well done - this is on of my favorite vintage Seamaster/bracelet combinations. If I was going to have one vintage watch, it would be a toss-up between this and and a similar vintage Air-king.

Ignore the bubbling, I had a gold filled 166.010 w/BOR that I wore for a dozen years and almost all of them have bubbles or freckles. You can barely see them on the wrist. Traded it late last year.

Just mentioned it to be complete. Not concerned about it. As you say, can't see it on the wrist. The lacquer has yellowed slightly, but that's common for a watch of this age.

Have to say I'm liking your gold version.

Oh wow! That is just beautiful! It's exactly the model I am hoping to track down for myself! 😀

I got mine for about $700, I think, on eBay. The case was beat up but as you can see a good watchmaker trained to do case work can make all of the difference. Still has all of the sharp edges (for certain values of sharp, of course).

That is excellent! Would you mind sharing the name of your watchmaker (PM is fine, of course!)? Thanks so much!

He has asked me not to. He doesn't want to jepordize his job.

I will, however, share another watchmaker with you who is also a good guy. PM me what you need and I'll check with him to see what he can do for you.

Love the simple classic design of the 166.010 combined with the BOR.

Awesome watch, that is looking very sharp and crisp after this service.

I believe I read in Desmond's blog about Gerald Genta and if I am not mistaken, he did this specific Seamaster reference too.

Thanks for sharing!

The 166010 is a great watch, but if you can get 011, it is also a good thing to own because it is 36mm.

Also look for a 14700 or 14701.

Oh yes! Just googled those two references: beautiful!
Pay very close attention to the case. If the lugs are uniformly thin, fitting a bracelet will be problematic. The later 14700 cases were changed to thicken the lugs at the spring bar end so a bracelet will fit better.

Thank you! That's one more thing I would not have even thought to look for. Do you mean uniformly thin from polishing?
