Hi Forum Friends!

Going to Paris next week for some R & R,
and it would be nice if you could share some info on some decent vintage watch stores?
And also some nice places to visit and explore?
I have seen most of the ”normal” stuff in Paris,
but the city is loaded with lovely buildings, park and gardens, museums etc.
And I have a soft spot for WW2 history, so maybe a nice museum?

We are going to stay close to the Louvre, and have no problem using the Metro.

We have sorted out the food stuff, but if there are any nice places to hang out during the later evening?

I don't think that we will be outside Paris, but you never know?

And yes - I know that there are threads done before about this, but I would like to start a new one,
and maybe do some posts about the things that I explore and experience.

Looking forward to your suggestions!

À votre santé!!

If you are interested in WWII history then visit The Liberation of Paris
General Leclerc Museum. It's outstanding and well worth the visit. The best part is touring the underground network of passages and rooms used by the French Resistance.

Located at 4 Avenue du Colonel Henri Rol-Tanguy
75014 Paris

Hi buddy!

I am no expert in activities in Paris but here are some spots that I like:

- Musée du quai Branly - Jacques Chirac: museum of Arts and Civilizations of Africa, Asia, Oceania, and Americas. I love this place.

- Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle: because I love dinosaurs and animals in general .

- Les catacombes de Paris: this is a place I didn't visit myself but is quite famous if you are not afraid of a morbid visit.

Enjoy your stay Hans!

AHH.., yes. Romain, ask him about his Blancpain Air Command Chrono. I sold that to him many years ago ... If you meet him, give him my best regards from Australia from the BP Chrono seller. Joachim from Down Under

Hey Hansaboy,

Off course Romain Rea is always a good idea.

I can recommend you Antoine de Macedo: https://adm-horloger.com/
It's impressive how many vintage watches he has, off course, price is according to the place.

Also, there is the most little vintage watch shop in the world not far away: https://www.montresmania.com/
The owner is lovely.

In front of his shop there is also another one but I don't remember the name.

Enjoy your stay !

Forum Friends,
i am back from Paris, and I would like to share some of the nice stuff that I experienced!

But first of all, thanks Guys for the lovey tips regarding what to do and see!

@Speed2Sea , sadly we had this museum planned on a Monday, and they where closed that day (got to check websites more…🤔).

https://www.museeliberation-leclerc-moulin.paris.fr/en

@Seaborg , Romain - the catacombs where a NoGo from my wife…🙄
We did walk outside the Musée du Quai Branly - amazing buildings and architecture!

https://www.quaibranly.fr/en/

@calalum - The Romain Rea shop was super nice - spent over an hour with them!
Amazing collection, and amazing prizes…
@watchyouwant - Sorry Achim, but Romain was not there…

https://www.romainrea.com/en/

@Larry S - what a lovely place, the owner Jean-Yves has a BIG heart for Omega!
I had a hard time leaving his shop.

http://www.contretempsparis.com

@jsducote - this was a lovely place to visit, and I would have never found it or looked after it!
Amazing collections!

@iChristos , I had actually both of the shops that you recommended on my todo list, but sadly we ran out of time…(but next time maybe??)!

I managed to visit 4 different vintage watchshops, I e-mailed them in advance and booked a meeting.
I recommend this because then they really take their time, and even offer coffee!😀

I also went to the usual Omega and Rolex stores, and also tried the new White Dial Speedmaster!
It was for sale, and I could have bought it, if I wanted…

Restaurants!
You have to eat, and there are restaurants everywhere.
Lunch was spent close to where we were at the moment.
But the evenings where planned in advance, we were a party of 6, so a booking is highly recommended!

Here are a few that we went to, and had a lovey time:

Brasserie Lipp - If you want a real French Old School place, this is it!

https://www.brasserielipp.fr

Miss KO - Asian Fusion at its best!
Supercool interior, exciting cocktails, beautiful and supertasty meals!
And a DJ that was very Hipp!
A warning - if you want a quite place - this is NOT it!😁

https://www.miss-ko.com/en

Monsieur Bleu - this is the place if you want to hang out and chill!
Right beside Palais de Tokyo and with a view over the Seine River and the Eiffel Tower.
The place has a ”Saint-Tropez” vibe, with a very talented DJ!
And the chef did wonders with the food!

Some of you may not have been to France?
Paris is huge, with lots and lots of old lovely ancient buildings, nice museums, wonderful restaurants everywhere and people everywhere.

The French people are very proud of their culture, food, country etc.
But maybe not so talented in speaking English, but if you give them some time, ask a few polite questions,
they often open up and start a conversation with you.
To round it all off - attaching pictures with comments!

Enjoy and Santé!

Take Off!

Breakfast and an early Brewski before opening time for the watch shops.

Romain Rea and Contre Temps
