However, just looking at the movement construction, I don't see how this movement would actually function. Where is the barrel? Where is most of the gear train and escapement? What's the giant wheel that you can see behind the balance wheel. There is no shock-absorber/cap jewel on the balance.
The arm coming from the cap jewel is the shock absorber - this sort of design goes back to Breguet's "pare-chute" design.
Free sprung balance so this is not a regulator arm as someone suggested.
The large gear I would guess is the ratchet wheel, which winds the mainspring. You can see at least one train wheel there, but the mystery to me is how the balance wheel gets an impulse from the escapement...always hard to know with renders because they are often less than clear in how the movement actually works.
