I want to buy a decent winder for my automatic watches and I'll bet you guys will have an opinion or two.

I've looked at a couple online but that's not like using one for a while.

I've got (so far) three automatic watches and three good manual winders.

    Your thoughts and experience, please.

If you are in the U.S., this range of winders from Brookstone is nigh-on unbeatable for quality, features, and price:

I still have two that I bought more than six years ago. Very nice.

I use these things called Boxy Brick which are modular. I think they're great and really affordable. You can just continue to add them as you get more watches.

I get mine from this place in Australia but I believe there are other resellers internationally - http://www.watchwinderworks.com.au/clickcartpro7/index.php?app=ecom&ns=catshow&ref=Boxy Brick Modular Systems

Edit: Brookstone also has them for those in the states - http://www.brookstone.com/endeca/search_results.jsp?_dyncharset=utf8&Ntt=boxy brick

Not sure this thread can continue...
The best recommendations have been made! Sure, there may be outliers that represent a good value, and others that are expensive works of art. But between Orbita and Wolf on the upper end, and Brookstone on the value end, you're covered.

Being a little bit of a hobby carpenter I can see having fun with the modular systems and making a fine box or stand to house them. Great suggestions.

If price is not a factor, Scatola del Tempo would be my choice.

They actually do one. Fits 8 units with storage for a further 6 watches

None. Unless you really need to use a winder, I would not bother. Not too difficult powering up your autos from stop to go in a few seconds and save some dollars. Keeping them wound just means they are running all the time for no real good reason. Well, that's what I think but many seem to be satisfied with a winder, so I will shut now. :whipped:

    Cheers

Unless your watches have calendar/moonphase functions beyond a simple quick-set date, I also wouldn't bother. There is something aesthetically pleasing about setting and winding a watch.

Not to me. If a watch isn't on a winder I find myself selecting another one that is. I realise it only takes a minute to set but that's enough to put me off.

What works for one person may not work for others but I for one would hate to go without my winders.
