Hello everyone, I've found this Seamaster ref. 166.002 cal. 562 shown in the pictures for 500 USD or around 416 GDP. I really like it, but the thing is that I can't figure out if I'm overpaying. Seller says that the crown is a little loose and the date is sometimes struggling when shifting, so it'll definitely need servicing, but it is running. Do yall think its worth it? Would you buy it? Thanks in advance

Looks like a decent original example, but you're going to have to figure $200-300 or so into service/repair, possibly more if it needs parts. Looks like the winding rotor is rubbing the case back (more parts).

I think it will be nice once it's fixed up. The price isn't crazy, but it is a little risky given the unknown costs of repairs. Parts can add up pretty quickly. I would feel better in the $300-$400 range, and it's not easy to sell a watch in that condition, so the seller might consider an offer.

The hands show 5 to 9. The date disc is in the middle of changing over, which should occur around midnight. The date disc is either stuck , the hands taken off and misaligned or somebody just messed around. Better factor in $400 for a service with maybe date section parts needed.

And probably problems sourcing a replacement date wheel ring if cal 562s are as hard to find as one for my cal 561

Agreed with all above. It’s a gamble for which you need the stomach and resources in place if sometime goes wrong. These come up commonly in the $6-800 range in excellent condition, a little more with fresh service when they do come up. May be worth being patient unless the seller feels motivated to dump it cheaper.
