hi, can you give me your opinion about this tri-compax ref 22259, especially about the dial? i see the poor condition of the dial, but has it been repainted? other thoughts about the dial and the watch?

 

The dial looks like a maybe a service dial original from UG, is there a dash between the TRI-COMPAX ? Dial is nice in my opinion, I'm not sure why members think a watch dial 70 years old should look NOS ? Very rare Tri-Compax, any UG collector would love to own !

 

My opinion is that the dial is original but as you said not in 100% conditions but overall could be worse. What's the serial number? Ref 22259 seats pretty early in the production run of Tri-Compaxes, I would guess the serial number is just below or just above 1MM.
Also I think the hands are clearly re-limed (which I do not particularly mind if done well) as they definetively appear different to the rest of the lume and too good and omogeneous for the conditions of the dial.
Moon disk is original and early (a rarity in itself).
Depending on price a good and rare watch indeed

I like the case. I like the hands (not sure about the relume others have raised). I LOVE the blue moon face. I am lukewarm on the dial, although yes it looks original to me. For me would depend on the case size and mostly on price....

 

These are 34 mm, and this model is rare and pricy !

 

You mean tri compax are pricey or this particular reference ?

 

Prices overall have risen for UG Tricompax, but this model is rare and sells for a premium !
