Dear all, I would need your feedback on a purchase Im about to make: an omega speedmaster alaska as seen hereunder. Its sold by a pre-owned dealer without original box, accessories and straps (above). I'm pretty trustful of the dealer, just want to make sure I'm not missing anything with regard to the actual watch's authenticity. It comes with matching original papers and blank warranty. Thank you very much, E.
It looks original, but unless v.cheap I wouldn't have it, Without original things it is worth much less than a full set. Especially no bracelet, no accessories.... MUCH less....
What would you think is a fair price? Forum members have been selling these for around 5.5k - 6k usd full set I believe
Modern pieces (say, post-2000) are usually valued at about 10-15% less without full box, papers, accessories and the like. However, limited editions are more like 20-25% less without the accompanying items. Do searches on all sales of LE Omegas, with and without all items, and you'll see the discrepancy. Use that info to judge what a fair price for YOU will be. I mention for you since "fair" is a relative and NOT an absolute term.
Yes I guess you're right, but getting in that 5.5k-6k range is a bit steep for me. Im considering Amax budget of 5k... I will be wearing it daily, but if one day I have to sell it its true I might get bashed by the absence of box, steel bracelet (which I dislike wearing with chronographs), and especially the manuals and the anodized donut.
Its probably one of the first things they look for especially with this piece. Its known for having a lot of goodies as standard, finding them is very hard.
Huh fancy that - Completely by chance! Trusted seller too and fully complete. You have also just missed the one i sold last week.
Wow....what a sharp watch and collection of goodies. I'll have to research its history....first time I've seen one.
Just curious.....how does the red titanium case protect the watch from the extreme cold? The ambient temp would eventually make the whole setup just as cold? Or does the case serve another function? Thank you for any insight....
The red extreme case fits around the main watch case. It was tested to -148c (see link) and it obviously stood the test and the watch functioned perfectly to that temp http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=52984
Such a gorgeous watch but the only thing I don't like about it personally is how big the chrono hand is... which I know is almost the whole point of the watch haha
I love this watch, but being a limited edition with so many unique goodies I'd need a massive discount and even then I'd have some pause.
This watch looks great. I especially like the white strap. I couldn't make this my only speedy but it would make a great addition. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
