Authentic Omega Seamaster 1970s? Case back looks suspect.

Hi Forum!

I'm making my first vintage omega purchase and am quite excited!! I've negotiated a price with the seller but noticed that the case back has a uni-directional brushed finish instead of a radial finish I've seen on many seamasters.

The watch is from the 70s (exact date unknown) with a 1011 movement.

What do you think? Any help would be appreciated.

Things changed in the 70s, not Omega's finest hour. At first I thought this was a 168.024, but apparently not with those hands and a cal 1011.

You might want to post clear in-focus photos of the dial with the hands moved.

Thanks for the quick reply Dan! It sounds from your reply like the brushing direction on the case back may not be a concern, just degraded production quality?

Here is the only other photo I have from the seller showing the dial. Unfortunately this is the image quality I have from the seller :/

Very much appreciate the help from such a legend!!

My apologies for missing that detail. Jim you're correct it's listed as 168.0061!

I really appreciate your quick replies here and patience as I'm still learning about what details to post when asking questions like this.

I like the no-lume dial and hand-set. That's a plus. The style of the hand-set isn't my favorite. I really prefer the 60s versions of these watches, and the prices probably aren't much different.

I like the hands too! The price seemed fair at $1,100 USD based on what I've been able to find as well.

Not a huge difference, just a slightly more vintage look and the 500-series movements are often considered a notch above. At $1100 you could certainly get a 166.010 with BoR if you'd prefer that. Just keep an eye on the sales forum here, these are pretty common.
