As the end of times is approaching... which watch do you grab as you bug out?

To play by the posted rules, the BLNR.
To play by what's currently in my watch box - my Milgauss for similar reasons already posted. No battery, longevity without needed service/battery, resistance to whatever we've done to the magnetosphere, bracelet durability and quick-adjust for the wild temperature swings. Dates won't matter but hours in the day could still be important.

All that and it's the one with the most sentimental value, so there's that, too.

I would just grab my safe deposit box and take all 30 with me.
So, either it is a wimpy box and very light, or you are "the rock" and can carry it like a men's purse!!
But why would you need all 30??!馃檮

Interesting choice! This was also my first pick, mostly due to the date, automatic movement and water resistance... but I would also be worried that its shininess would attract too much attention... so maybe I would put it on a NATO strap.
Otherwise, I must admit that the GW5000 JDM with tough solar would seem to be a very rugged option. No batteries needed. Would fly under the radar and definitely tough enough.

Apparently some didn't like my take on this poll... 馃榿

鈥ut in case you need to bug-out in a hurry to escape whatever imminent threat you have identified, which watch do you grab on your way out:
So I think I understand the premise... I'm in a hurry, world might be ending, I need a watch quick...

- modern Speedy Pro,

- X-33 Speedmaster,

- Casio G-shock GW5000,

- or a modern Rolex BLNR?
Speedy Pro: manual wind, shows me the time and allows me to use the chronograph to time how long between additional bad events...? Perhaps this would be a good option if it had a Pulsometer bezel so I could check my heart rate as I wait for the world to end?

X-33: I don't know how to read. Looks complicate!

G-shock: not for me

Rolex BLNR: seriously, the world is ending and you think I'm going to ring up my AD and see if I'm FINALLY next on the wait list! Is that what it takes to finally get a Rolex sports model...? 馃槻 馃槈

These, and ONLY THESE are your options. Which one do YOU grab and why? 馃槑
I would grab a Speedy Pro. Why? It's the only 1 of your 4 options I have at home, and I have 4 to choose from!

This modern Speedmaster Pro with the full set, of course. Eventually, civilization will return, and I'd want to be prepared for that, too.

Date complication? In a world without toilet tissue or Keurigs who cares about the date?

馃憤 well played. probably the best bet.

Yes but why would you want a spirit level? For post apocalypse shelving??
When the electronics on the airliner you are on go out you can tape the watch to the instrument panel and keep the aircraft level when lost in the clouds and fog.
With a little luck you can then crashland on a nice little island where the inhabitants seeing your killer watch will make you their new god, and live out your days sipping coconut wine brought to you by monkey butlers.

Well, when I considered the possibility of escaping our home with my wife and daughter, possibly never to return, it dawned on me that my wife would likely turn to me in the car and ask, "All that money spent on watches and you didn't BRING THEM WITH YOU!!!!!!!...."

Either I'm "bugging in" or else am heading to our place on the lake with large acreage. Water, fish and game and Mrs. noelake to supervise the garden.

Expect that the ol' Glycine beater will serve any timekeeping needs. If it's end times then that won't be critical anyway.

It's a forum. Any member attempt to limit topic discussion and thread drift is bound to come to grief.

Realistically, I'm staying put at home in this small town where folks pull together. Besides, I don't expect that we've reached any end times anyway.

Given the choices, I guess I would go with the Speedy as it's the most toolish on the list without any electronics. Unfortunately, it doesn't have much in the way of water resistance.

Off the list and in my watchbox, it's between the Tudor Pelagos or Breitling Blackbird; both are Ti, have all the WR I would ever need, and lume that glows like torches. Added bonus for the Breitling; it has a nifty conversion chart on the caseback for gallons, liters, pounds, and Kg.

As others have mentioned this is:

1) Waterproof
2) still legible at night (thanks super luminova)
3) Has recognizable value. It鈥檚 the equivalent of a pilot carrying a gold coin to barter with if crash landing in hostile territory

I don鈥檛 think I鈥檒l be able to explain the value of an Abercrombie and Fitch Seafarer to a post-apocalyptic doomsday prepper
