I'm almost certain that astronauts on future Artemis missions will wear a timepiece on their wrist. As to whether it's an Omega? Well, only time will tell (pun intended). If NASA issues specifications and initiates a competitive tender process to select a watch for use on a future lunar landing mission, I'm sure it would garner a huge amount of interest in the watch industry and almost every major watchmaker would submit a candidate. The commercial benefits for the winning bid could be enormous and last for years. Just look at the Speedmaster Pro...

We aren't living in the 1960s, requirements are far different today. I don't think watches will be all that important going forward. And they'll never hold the interest that the Speedmaster has.

Artemis cancelled today.

This project is way over schedule and has been beset by problems all along the way. It is a very ambitious program. The fact that there were 13 successful Saturn V launches starting 55 years ago, and we got to the moon multiple times with no loss of crew or payload, is all the more amazing.

Forced on NASA by Congress. Stupid expensive and now it’s a brick on the pad. So embarrassing.

Yes, such a shame it got scrubbed. I wasn't even born yet when Apollo 11 took place. I so want to see another moon landing. More importantly, I want my kids to see it and feel the same excitement and wonder that kids of the 1960s felt when humans first went to the moon. After all the crap of Covid-19, I think our kids really need something to fire up their imaginations and inspire them to once more look to the stars. I'm a romantic, I know... 😁
On the subject of whether watches would still be important for future astronauts, I would respectfully have to disagree with you. After all, one still needs to keep track of how much oxygen you've got left in your space suit 😀

I didnt realize they were using the same rockets, albeit modified, as they were in the space shuttle. Apparently the issue began when they load the cold rocket fuel, the temperature variation can cause havoc. Mind you I heard this little tidbit from a reporter on the radio on my drive this AM so who knows. Now they need to breakdown and reassemble the engines next window is Friday if what I heard on the radio is correct.

I think most kids and quite honestly even older folks hardly pay attention to the new mission. People seem to be more interested in the latest tik-tok challenge, than the challenge of advancing our journey into space.

Heard it was because they wanted to use Rolex Daytona’s
They probably have a few months left on the Rolex waiting lists as it’s only 4 years since they put the order in.

They need a watch for backup. As long as they keep training with watches, they'll have a watch.

Mercury astronauts had a rectal probe to monitor body temperature during flight. Wonder what company made those? Missed branding opportunity.

I’m starting to wonder if they’ll ever get off the launch pad.

As a former engineer, it's endeavors like this that inspire people to push beyond limits and innovations intended for space tend to trickle down to the average joe. Hoping they get the launch down soon.

…and postponed for the second time.

The two cancelled launches remind me of that quote from John Glenn

guess the question I'm asked the most often is: "When you were sitting in that capsule listening to the count-down, how did you feel?" Well, the answer to that one is easy. I felt exactly how you would feel if you were getting ready to launch and knew you were sitting on top of two million parts -- all built by the lowest bidder on a government contract.
