Ok gang, this is the post http://omegaforums.net/threads/recommended-ebay-watches.1790/ that pushed me into this one... It was sitting in the post office as I was out of town when the post lady came to deliver. I'm happy with the deal. The watch looks a lot better in person than those pics in the Seller's ad. There are a few nicks here and there but nothing to bother me. It winds smoothly and for the last few four hours it has remained in synch with my Comcast cable digital box. I must say that this one feels as the heavier vintage Omega in my collection. This one scratches two itches; a watch with an "Explorer" like dial and a "coat hanger S" Seamaster The Omega strap appears to be original but the hole side is unfortunately shot and must be replaced, the buckle is however definitely a keeper Mike and Steve: thanks for your post and recommendations! Here are some pics after a light cleaning with a polishing cloth... this one will go for service and pampering in the next few days. Now, lets see all the other September acquisitions!
Glad you liked the watch. You are the first official "victim" of our ebay enabling thread! Keep the watch in as found condition as much as possible.
Buy a strap from this James Rust - absolute best straps for the money anywhere in the internet. http://stores.ebay.com/Rustwatch
These came today and pictures don't do them justice. Very clean and with original band & 14k buckle... and this beauty...
Nice pair you got there! ! I must say the gold one was tempting me for awhile - you got some crisp and sharp looking lugs in it!
Thanks everyone, only problem now is not enough room in the watch box . The gold one will go off to Al (Archer) for a servicing and then I'll post some wrist shots.
I wanted both those watches!!! Almost got the first one and was interested in second. I bet now your not going to buy more for a while huh?
Good answer. The brain trust around here has a running joke about buying a very nice watch only to have one of your most wanted pop up only days afterwards after the coffers are low. Or in other words "ya snooze, ya lose". I don't know of any watches I regret buying off hand. I do know quite a few vintage pieces I've passed on and wish I didn't. Tony C's 27 OS chronometer, several of Mike's offerings, an 18ct pink gold Flagship 30L on eBay (which I still keep a picture of in my Photobucket account to remind me of how silly that was), a Baume & Mercier vintage chronograph (yes, a pic of that is in Photobucket too), an all 18ct yellow gold Movado with a square filled with a waffle pattern in the center...... I look back on what the asking prices were then and wish I could kick my own ass up & down my street for not jumping on them. That Movado was mint and only $440! The Flagship was a mere $735-ish!
