Damn right, you furriners can’t be trusted! 😁 I’m proud to say that all my noob taxes were paid right here in Murrica! They make the OP error look like a small order of freedom fries.

Typed on a keyboard made in China probably wearing a Nike shirt made in Vietnam 😜😜

I have purchased three watches via Chrono24. The first was new from a US dealer, it was a Mühle-Glashütte SAR, the second was also a U.S. based company, a Cartier, for my wife. The third was for a used MeisterSinger from a gentlemen in Australia.

The only troublesome deal was the Cariter that was sold from watchshopping.com (via Chrono 24) - real pain-in-the-ass company with snarky emails and shipping way past the supposed ship date. I would never buy a watch from watchshopping.com again.

The MeisterSinger deal was ok - not great. There is a scratch on the crystal that I missed in the photos. (I can buff it out). Seller was fair about it.

My experience with Chrono 24 is generally positive. I would only buy new from a US or Canadian dealer (I am based in the states) and I'll never buy a used watch via them again. One thing I noticed was, I bought all three watches on a weekend and it took quite a while for payments to be posted for the seller to be able to ship the watch.

Like others have said, buy the seller.

I see they already replied to you, but just wanted to note that I have had two great experience with watchshopping.com (both on Chrono24). One item was simply ordered from their stock, and another I reached out and they were able to find a watch for me that they did not have in stock. Hope you get it worked out!

A legitimate seller should refund the money if the item is not as described. I wont mention the name in here but two months ago i put deposit for a NOS 16710 Pepsi in a watch shop at Cologne Germany. When i got there to the shop i checked the watch. There were scratches on the bracelet, marks on the lugs showing that the bracelet removed before, some strange polishing on one of the lugs and the worst , the serial number was not matching the pepsi bezel. Before i mention , the seller asked me to refund the money and i accepted. This is how it should be on watch selling business.

As an update for all curious: my credit card company reimbursed me after investigating (USAA has wonderful customer service and was very helpful).

I submitted a claim with them when I made this thread and they took about 1 month before they issued me a credit to my account for the full amount of the watch. They told me that they would be contacting both the seller and Chrono24 and that if they ruled against me, I would then owe them the money back, but that they did not want me to go for several more months without the cash. This investigation took another ~1 month until they told me that they had ruled in my favor and I could keep the money.

From my end, I had two phone calls with them to start the dispute process and submitted all of my screenshots of emails with the seller and Chrono24. To date I have still not heard back from the seller or Chrono24 despite a few more attempts to reach them during the early stage of the investigation.

Never heard of a noob tax rebate, treat yourself to a watch.

In all seriousness I’m glad it worked out but it must feel weird when you wear that Cortebert...

Good for you 👍

After reading the whole thread what I find most amazing is how easy some people (Im sure you're not alone in this) pay 1000 for a watch worth 300 at most.

All the watches I’d have bought without seeing them in person first (I’d say at least 20) have at some point disappointed me in overall condition when received. I have never purchased from Chrono 24 and probable never will.

Geez... probably 90% of every watch I have bought sight unseen has blown me away

Rose Gold Zenith

The crispness of the lugs on this one when I got it floored me

This one I paid prior to even seeing a picture of it

not that i'm siding with the seller, but this to me looks like the buyer had unrealistic expectations for the watch. then realized he didn't want to pay that much after he got the watch.

macro photos and zoom lenses to examine every aspect as gotten way out of control.

many watches have manufacturing flaws, not noticeable to the naked eye.....more so in the 50/60's

i hate to be harsh..but really...a tiny scratch on the hand when u zoom in 50x?

a link to the thread " this watch is not for you" seems applicable

sorry that my take and delivery is more cutting than others but i'm sure many think but are afraid to voice what i'm saying

Some people have extraordinarily unrealistic expectations about watches manufactured 60 yrs ago. Regardless of sellers' BS common sense ought to prevail.
