Are you a leather/rubber strap guy, or a metal bracelet guy, and why?

For me ..... watch only covers may be 35% of the wrist , remaining 65% should be a nice original bracelet

Also, I will agree that the Explorer II looks fantastic on its metal bracelet. I think it could pull off a leather strap pretty well too, but it's definitely one of those watches that looks best on the metal bracelet.

Here are some ideas on an E2

What are your guys' preferences, and why?

Depends on the watch — I do all types (excluding NATO straps) but lately find myself inclining more to leather.

Here's mine. Over 100 years in my family. 2 wars and still ticking

Wow. That's incredible. She's beautiful, too!

Both strap and bracelet have their place depending on the watch, but lately I've certainly been wearing more and more leather and nato leather straps (as seen in avatar). But throw a good Rolex on my wrist and it might have to be bracelet!

@Sergio Maclean Great photos! Even though I wear my Exp II on the bracelet most of the time, I do switch between NATOs and minimal stitch leather straps as well. It's such a versatile watch. Where is the leather NATO from in the 4th picture down? I love the rustic and worn look.

Nice, I love looking around that site. I haven't purchased anything from there yet but it seems to be one of the go-to sites for vintage style straps.

Have a tenancy to go more for straps in winter and bracelets in summer. It all have a lot to do with our climate up here in the north.
I love in general to play around with various straps and regard that as part of the fun of collecting.

That's the problem with living in California: you can never wear straps.

Mostly straps...only a couple watches on bracelets. Straps are just better IMO. More comfortable, lighter, etc. I'm not the kind of guy that needs 2 pounds hanging off my wrist to give the feeling of quality. I actually like older, lighter (cheaper) bracelets if I'm going to wear a bracelet at all.

Cheers, Al

I tend to change backwards and forwards all the time, going through a bracelet phase at the moment but any day could see me heading for leather.
The pieces that are always on leather also see frequent changes of colour, style etc.
Way back in the mists of time I posted on how much I loved what I call the easy change spring bars, there is a proper name which escapes me now, anyway if my memory serves me correctly the general consensus at that time could see no point in such a spring bar and why change straps so often ?
I certainly haven't changed my opinion and for any who haven't seen said spring bars an image -

Oh yeah, it's a terrible life. 😗

I'm going to San Francisco over my spring break! I'm super excited. I have always wanted to see California. What area are you from?

Most watches are on straps - leather or reptile of some sort. A bracelet has to be very comfortable for me to keep it on a watch for any period of time. So far, only the IWC brick bracelet, the Breitling pilot's bracelet, and the Omega AT's bracelet have passed the test at all - and I prefer the Breitling Chrono Cockpit on a strap anyway. Rolex's Jubilee was decent too, but any Rolex I owned is long since gone. I sold the IWC Spitfire Mark XV and wouldn't mind replacing it.

I heard Cinnaholic is worth going to. Do you agree? That's basically the first thing on my list.
