    Good evening,

I had a look at the speedmaster below earlier today from a dealer here in the UK. I'm not convinced by the hands - are these original or is a Frankie McFrankenwatch?

What does it purport to be?

Hands are not moon watch hands. Too stubby and also new. Bezel is also new for a watch with an applied logo stepped dial.

Judging by the dial and case back, the hands and bezel are incorrect although I would want to see movement, serial number and inside case back before offering too much comment.

    Cheers

Thanks for confirming my thoughts. I knew the bezel was incorrect & suspected the hands were wrong for a pre-moon speedmaster. Will be giving it a pass. If anyone knows of a correct c321 pre-Moon in the UK or possibly Europe, I've decided I need one in my life!

Good luck in your search, you've picked a very hot commodity at the moment. There are quite a few European members on this forum who may be able to help you. Be prepared to spend quite a lot for a good one.

Evening all. I've picked up image-07-04-16-11-24.jpeg image-07-04-16-11-24-2.jpeg image-07-04-16-11-24-3.jpeg image-07-04-16-11-24-4.jpeg image-07-04-16-11-24-5.jpeg image-07-04-16-11-24-1.jpeg a lead on c321 pre-Moon which to my slightly trained eye looks correct although I thought -65 had a double step caseback. Please can I call on the collective wisdom of the forum for their thoughts on this?

Going back to the first one you posted. Have you got a better picture of the dial? Looks like it might have a hint of brown. If so, depending on the price, it might be worth a second look, despite the incorrect hands, bezel, polished case etc.

@TheHoof - re:the new watch. Case looks polished and can't tell if the crown is replaced or not - don't remember the serial charts off the top of my head so I'd just look it up in MWO or speedmaster101 to make sure it falls in the right range. The dial is correct but looks like the "too good to be true" lume shade that vision & vintage has been selling (omega's version of nbtimes?)... since you and he are both in UK I'd have to know more about where it comes from. They're good relume jobs but relume is relume and they should be honest about that. Would like to hear others thoughts on the lume. Macros would be most helpful.

To me the dial appears washed as all dial lume has been removed.

Regarding the new watch, which looks very nice by the way, the 105.012-65 is supposed to have a double step caseback.

It was indeed brown although it had a mark on the dial just below the 53 minute marker. That aside, the dial looked great but I couldn't get past the hands. IIRC it was ~GBP 5k

On the original watch, yes I believe it was.

Gives you a good idea of the huge price difference between an all original example and the one you were considering. With the current popularity of these watches, especially the 321 calibers, there really aren't any amazing deals left to be had. Maybe a little less in certain places, but anything priced 30% below the average is priced that way for a reason. At least in my very limited experience. YMMV.
