My 2nd hunt for a vintage Longines took me nearly 5 months, before I got in touch with a reputable seller at WUS. But the 1st hunt, which has been 2 years and still ongoing:(, is definitely a vintage Girard Perregaux; i came extremely close to reaching an agreement on eBay for a black dial gyromatic but throughout the fluctuations in my finances I always find myself short. Sometimes I think the vintage GP are like the pieces that every vintage lover must keep one for himself/herself and that there is hardly any point in trading them.

What is yours, and have you given up yet?:p

Same boat. Frankly the novelty has worn off at this point; getting the email and picking it up feels like it will be more of a "Finally :/ " than a "WOOHOO :D :D " and that feeling just intensifies as the weeks come and go with no word from Omega. I wasn't even deemed special enough to get the magazine either

For me it's a stainless porthole JLC and it's been years I've been looking for one. Help a brotha out over here for gosh sakes.

Oh, and can you SpeedFreaks and Trilogydites take your wine and cheese back to the other 5 threads that already exist on the subject :p

I suffer vicariously through @oddboy and his seemingly endless search for a decent 145.012-67 dial. The heartache is overwhelming.:(

So if I read the OP correctly, the delay is caused by a lack of the right watch, right seller and/or right price? I waited six years to buy a bracelet for my GP at the right price. Could have bought one immediately, but wasn't prepared to pay MSRP. I'd wait that long for a special watch too if I had too.

I've been attempting to locate a decent dialed [and correct] Illinois 163A Elinvar Bunn Special for about two weeks...no joy!

    Aw, thanks Les!

True, but it's less the photos themselves than the fact that the photos are of people who are already enjoying theirs - 60th Speedmasters haven't begun delivery yet apparently (or are only just now).

I can sympathise with your GP hunt. I bought my Gyrodate over a year ago and I'm still searching for a new canon pinion. That, and a balance complete for a Valjoux 65/Eberhard pre-Extra Fort.

    Good luck

Saying it like it is...basically, yes to everything.

Plenty on eBay and etsy, but: a lack of right watch (redials, unattractive hands), a lack of right sellers (plenty of south american sellers which i have no knowledge about), a lack of right price ($800 for a steel gyromatic 3 hands basic function...? Come on...)

Looking at GP watches in general, the vintage ones have far less in common with their modern counterparts, this make vintage GPs a rarity. Even Longines and Tissot are releasing Heritage/Conquests and Visodates as tributes to their vintage styles. It is an uphill search but not giving up yet :)

I want a 18k Connie with gold bracelet but haven't found anyone naive enough to only ask $500 for it :D

Also I'm not confident enough to go hunting on eBay alone yet

There are plenty of vintage GP's on eBay. The problem is that for each fully original piece there are two tarted-up frankenwatches. Proceed with caution. This is a nice one with the gold-plated movement. It might need a new crystal.

Is it any coincidence that both Longines and Tissot are Swatch Group companies? ::confused2::

    Definitely this ;)

Search began about a year ago, and is ongoing, one day I'll find it :)

Sorry to link to another members photo, but it's the best pic on google

Took me 8 months to find a 30L chronometer at a relatively affordable price and I got lucky.

That's a clean gyromatic although i am keen on a dial with more design varieties (funky markers, textured dial)...already have plenty of enicars and other brands looking nearly identical...

To be fair GP did release their 1966 collections but definitely out of my price range...

While on vintage GP's, I was lucky to find a 8846 w box & papers, but am still hunting a 6557, and a 9075, for a decent price. Love them Olimpicos!
