Spotted this late 14777 or early 168.001. It is a redial but a good one. The text is close to the original but not correct. The more obvious issues are the -- SWISS MADE -- and the applied OMEGA is not centered between the symbol.
My guess is that redials will continue to get better and better due to improved techniques, like CAD and 3-D printing that allows a good quality photograph to be reproduced right onto the dial. I know that they are doing this extensively in Asia now and many of the watches I see coming from there (particularly S. Korea) have these high quality redials. Something to "watch" out for in the future. gatorcpa
I'm worried also about the dials of the fake seamaster 300. Are getting better. It's a mine field out there for a non expert..
Good call on the redial At first glance the uninitiated could easily mistake this for correct. For me, the Constellation made me think "hmm something not quite right there" -too compact The gap between the Omega and symbol is a little too large also
It's going to be even more confusing when they start making redials with patina or small damage to appear "weathered" out.
Correct, I have seen a few redials with these dash marks both sides of the swiss made all incorrect. The applied OMEGA should be evenly spaced between the omega symbol above and the printed text below. Without these more obvious issues the text font is also not correct in particular the 'a' for this date is wrong (point v flat top) and 'n' is too wide.
It's not a bad effort but the discrepancies do still glare at you after spending hours on Desmond's blog.
Thanks for that. A scary good job on that repaint. I only would have alerted on the pointy "A" myself. The oblique camera angle on the face disguises the off center applied stuff for my eyes.
