AR Coating

Just wondering, can the anti reflective coating be rubbed off on Omega watch with normal cleaning of the crystal? And by normal cleaning, I mean a quick wipe to get any marks off it with a tissue or possibly the t-shirt you are wearing (I hope I'm not alone doing this 😀 )

How durable is it, and what are the do's and dont's when your watch has this coating?

My field of expertise being optical technology (ie. not watches), I can say that AR coatings are resistant to fluids and rubbing from a clean cloth. A hard abrasive material, such as particles of sand in the cloth, would do damage. Hope this helps.

The AR should not come off with regular wiping. Thankfully Omega has changed the AR over the years. I had an early PO and the AR has a bluish tint at angles and did pick up faint scratches along the way. Now I have a 2500D PO and the AR doesn't have any color to it and hasn't picked up any scratches, same with the SM 300.

Side note: Does the SM 300 have AR coating inside and out or just inside?
