If you enjoy the watch it's worth every penny. Forum contributors don't wear your piece 😀

I got this one from my wife, I enjoy it as much as my SMP or Sea-Dweller....

I was reffering to luxury watches, so Mido and microbrands are out, ymmv.

Mido use in-house movements, whereas the only TAGs with in-house movements are the Heuer-02 and derivative movements.... If luxury is overpaying for the same cheap movement found in a "non-luxury" micro, then yeah TAG is pretty luxe lol.

Again, with the Aquaracer you're paying for the design of it, rather than bang for the buck. And again, that's totally fine!

Sorry, I won't jump into a discussion "-What Is and what Isn't in-house inside Swatch Group".
Yes, luxury pretty much is about paying more than the item's face value.

May not be too helpful, as it's not really the same watch.. but I got this (super cheap) from an old lady who bought it new, wore it a bunch and then threw it in a drawer. At first I thought it was a bit hideous - the blue, silver and gold look, but after a few minutes cleaning it and wearing it around it's kinda grown on me. 😀

Does anyone's perspective change if the model in question is a quartz?

As a brand, TAG Heuer seems to be hated across the watch fora

Like I give a rat's ass. I got loads of 'em and love 'em 😁

Oh - Quartz is the only reason I bought mine.. and it was pocket change.
I wasn't interested in the Automatic at all.

I believe your blue beauty is the older model 1500 which has a great following nowadays. Classic looks and size.

I still really enjoy this TAG, I put an all black band on it (no stitching) and it's become my dress watch. Square-Monaco.jpg

Jeez Keith they don't come cleaner or sharper than that one!

thanks. To be fair, I bought it from Mr. X350 XJR. His watches are very well taken care of.

That's cool - thx for the info. I know little to nothing about Tag, but I was looking for a quartz at the time and it seemed authentic. The lady had all the links as well, so it was a pretty neat deal. Has some wear on it, but still really nice looking IMO.

I have a quartz one someone local was selling cheap. I picked it up due to the couple hundred dollar price and the fact that at the time all my divers were vintage and I wouldn’t want to get them submerged although tbh I’m not a diver anyway. I grew to like it. I wouldn’t mind an automatic one as long as it wasn’t new. I hate that walk out the door lose 50% of its value feeling but if you dig it go for it. I throw my support behind you

Personally I think the very best move that they have made lately is producing watches without the "TAG" on the dial.
I totally agree. As an old school Heuer guy from way back, it just seemed wrong to mess with heritage and tradition by putting the new parent company’s name on the dial. I strongly prefer the classic HEUER shield and name. At least to me, it evokes a cool 1960’s Road & Track kinda vibe. I am quite sure we’d all raise holy hell if our favorite watches suddenly became known as “Swatch Omegas”.

And as long as I’m complaining, Hamilton can knock off putting “Khaki” on the dial of some otherwise very nice field watches.

There. I feel better. Thanks, folks!

My Aquaracer was a gift from my mother in law, and it’s the watch that really got me into collecting.
