April has been an interesting one for me. Earlier this month, I was in Tokyo for a holiday. During my travels, I had set out to search for a 3594.50 "Replica" but could not seem to find one. Having searched high and low, I eventually settled for a TinTin. On the same day I purchased the TinTin, it was out of sheer luck that I stumbled across a Replica sitting in a display case in one of the many pre-owned stores in Shibuya.

Fast forward to last weekend; I was just casually browsing the selection of Omegas at my local AD and sitting in a corner was a 60th Anniversary Speedmaster. Yup, just casually sitting there. Most of my friends who got their hands on one had to order theirs, waiting between 4-6 months before theirs arrived. I was told that this had arrived two weeks ago, was index into their system and then displayed for a little over a week.

In truth, I had not considered making the purchase, but then the salesperson offered me a price which was difficult to refuse. And as a result, I picked up my third speedy in the month of April (and perhaps, last one for the year!).

How does the 60th compare to the Replica? Well, that's an interesting question. I was concerned about the size of the 60th; its smaller at 39mm with the crown guard deleted. I have a 7.5 inch wrist and the 42mm Replica is perfect for me; with the 60th I just wasn't sure. Still, it had the traits I love - applied logo, matte dial, broad arrow hands. I sit on the fence with the fauxtina, but I will admit I prefer the bracelet and clasp on the Replica.

Anyway, I know there is no reason to keep both the Replica and the 60th, so I guess I am now at a crossroad and need to try and decide on one between the two. I'll need some wrist time...

Go for the 60th and the TinTin. Perfect Duo.
I owned the Replica. Now the 60th. Love the size and the bracelet.
And the TinTin gives you the size of the Replica and nearly the same bracelet, but a cool dial.

    Best regards

Very nice month indeed. Thanks for sharing the pics.

I have a 7.65 inch wrist, recently got my first Speedy and went with the replica. I wouldn’t want to go any smaller. I may look at a newer model, but it would have to be the 57 coaxial as it’s larger.

One is a 99% accurate clone of the first and most iconic Speedy ever (also produced in roughly the same limited volume)...

The other is ... well, I dunno ... haven’t figured it out yet... it sure ain’t a replica as it’s about 1/3rd of the way ‘replicated’ ...

We like what we like. Good luck deciding

The ‘57 Coaxial (41.25mm) is smaller than the (42mm) Moonwatch ...

Apologies, I was referring to the 57 coax vs the 60th anniversary. I’d choose the former due to my wrist size.

Wonder how the Replica would look like if it can replicate the 60th's (faux)patina ...

Nice additions. I started with one Speedmaster Pro (145.022-74) a few years ago.
    Then I added a 3570.50 in February.
Then added a 3572.50 in March.
Then added a Speedy Tuesday in April.

THREE additions in 3 months, so not quite as intense as you. I modded the 3572.50 last month.

Actually, not really in terms of the way the 57 co-axial wears. I own it and the Speedy Pro. The 57 co-ax is, when you put it face to face with the Pro, actually marginally larger all around the front of the entire watch due to its bezel size. The lugs are a bit longer than the Pro's, too. And of course it's thicker. The result is a watch that actually wears a bit larger, not smaller, than the Pro. I love both and lately find myself wearing my 57 co-ax more than any other watch I own. But don't let Omega's case size specs fool you into thinking the 57 co-ax is somehow smaller than the Pro. It most definitely is not.

The fact is if you measure it, it IS smaller.

You sure Eug? If he is referring to the 9300 movement 2 register '57 Speedmaster then AFAIK that is a much bigger and deeper watch than the Pro, ~44mm from memory. I don't think the new smaller Co-ax Racing uses the '57 tag so it isn't that one and I don't think he means the 2007 Broad Arrow 1957 Co-ax, which is exactly the same as the Pro.

Never owned a 57 Coaxial (but well the cousin 9300 ‘Moonwatch’) :) But I remember reading about it and remarking on this fact. I.e. despite it having a 9300, it has a straight lugged case, which after you shave away the crown guards (plus whatever else they did to the case) makes it smaller than the normal caliber 9300, and even smaller than a 42mm moon watch.

A reference to my memory :
