Hello all! I'm back with another Tri-Compax and will post my recently purchased Tri when I pick it up.

What would you appraise this particular watch at?

The case back is interesting as it has no reference number on it, but the interior of it is signed. Was this normal?

    Thanks!

This watch is 100% authentic :)

It's a good watch. Dial is a UG issue. I have one just like it. Love the fact that it has a moon face!

I believe the seller is asking around $4,500. Is this a good price?

    Thanks.

It looks to me as if the hands have been relumed -- the condition is too good -- but it's been done well.

Pretty typical on the lume actually. The dial, stubby tails on 9 and 6 and no hyphen between Tri and Compax, may be a later service dial. Some debate on the forum. No debate that it's a UG dial. Unusual I think to see this dial with a moon face.

Here is my 22242 for comparison. I am it's third UG Forum owner.

No, it is quite common. I have seen a lot with this dial and moon face because some years ago, I was searching for exactly this version with crab lugs.
Here are some examples. First of all mine with repainted second dial. Original dial is kept safe away. DSCF0011.JPG

Then a beautiful example sold by Bonhams in 2013:

and some other examples with same dial and mostly same hands. 191947-0026-011.jpg

That dial is to far gone for my taste.. OP watch is a better value.

The 22258 has a more imposing case and seems less common, on the other hand the 22279 from the OP looks to have a better dial. I would be on the fence if i had to choose. Fortunately i have both.

    My 22258:

Not sure what to make of some of these moon phase faces with blue. I believe the eyebrows should connect with the nose on original, some of the examples in this thread look to be redone. Unless there was a lot of variation in the originals.
Anyhow, lots of great looking tri's !

Update: I was wrong, the price is $5,500. I'm also a little bothered by the crooked crown.
