So I was at a Omega authorized dealer today that is closing down so they are discounting their remaining in stock models and they have a Apollo Soyuz on the window for sale. Only issue is that they have lost the box. Its only watch and warranty cards and certificate. Watch is obviously under warranty. All the protective stickers have been removed also. Thinking of getting it. What you guys think? $4,900
Personally I'd say it is. I wouldn't care about the box at that price. Doesn't come with any special accessory anyway. The watch itself is a seriously stunning piece that's getting hard to find.
One for sale on Rolex Forums without the original box, but with papers, for $7250. Not saying it will sell for that, but that price comparatively makes yours a bargain. That said, the original box is special, and due to the low numbers, a replacement would probably be hard to come by, and I would suggest this will have an affect on future sale to collectors. If you like the watch and want to wear it, buy it by all means, but if you want it for it's collectability, you'll need to think carefully. Interestingly there was another with the full set on the Rolex Forum for $6800 that took three weeks to sell back in May, so I think the seller of the the new one is, IMHO, pushing it at his asking price. Another for $50 less in April was sold in a day.
I'd buy it and send it for service, must have already been sitting for a good number of years. I made the mistake of not buying a new Alaska Project Speedmaster from the dealer a couple of years back and regretted it ever since. I've seen a few of these boxes come up for sale on ebay
Definitely a bargain - I would snap it up. I missed one on eBay with no B&P that ended up selling for $6800 a few months ago. Also I saw a box for this model recently on eBay and no one bid - so it may come around again... And if you decide you don't want it, I'd be happy to buy it from you
Ask for 10% off. It's going to need a service. I owned one, but sold it. I wish Omega would have made this with hesalite.
Buy it! Crazy thing is I struggled to sell one of these a couple of years ago, completely mint and freshly serviced through Omega with full 2 years gaurantee and box /papers, at 4,995. Funny how markets change hey?
A significant reduction in price, but there a lot more Speedmasters I'd rather own than this version. I'm not surprised it sat unsold for so long.
The dials are made from part of the Gibeon Meteorite that impacted in Namibia. To me that just makes it all the more desirable and waaaaay cool.
