Why is there no flag or flagpole shadow on the lunar surface?

There is a shadow- but just to start off with, please note the extreme angle of the shadows in the shot- the shadow of Aldrin's legs and the lunar lander are incredibly long. We can only see the shadows of Aldrin's legs in the frame, so why would we be able to see the flag itself?

Here's a shot from the Apollo 11 lunar lander of Aldrin's salute (as pictured in the image you're citing). In this image you can see how long the shadows are cast- and just how thin the shadow of the pole itself is. The shadow of the flag itself was not captured by Armstrong (right) taking the picture.

Now, if you go back to the original image and look only for the shadow of the pole, you might be able to see it.

High-quality scans of this image pick it up as well.

Here is a fairly detailed breakdown of this common question/moon-landing conspiracy (Some Images sourced from there). Once you think it through it makes pretty solid sense.

Edit: to be clear, I am treating @Drifter 's question as a legitimate question as opposed to a conspiracy theory.

I once had a moon landing conspiracy theorist tell me very matter-of-factly that AI Algorithms had been running the stock market since the 1930s, so I suppose anything is possible.

The "moon" is just an apperture in the dome that covers the flat earth. The flat earth is racing upwards in space, to make what we call "gravity", hence the need for a dome so shit dont blow of the disk.

Or maybe it sat atop of four elephants standing on a turtle, I am not totally sure. The elephants would probably pass what we call the moon from trunk to trunk. As they have different length trunks it would appear as it would rise and set.

Burn the heretic!

That would be stupid, one turtle is obviously enough.

The big question is of course " what sex are the turtles?"

I just love Terry Pratchett's Disk world.

When all else fails just have the turtle fly through space, it's really the only explanation that makes good sense.

Thank goodness for Pratchett

On the Moon, there is no atmosphere to scatter sunlight, so shadows are much sharper and darker compared to what we experience on Earth. In photographs taken on the Moon, objects like the flag and the flagpole would cast very dark shadows. However, depending on the angle of the Sun and the camera, these shadows may not be visible in the photographs due to the brightness of the lunar surface itself.

MoonSwatch is easier to produce for less important "anniversaries" ( or Full Moon events in MoonSwatch case ).
Funny enough they can add a Pulsometer bezel to a new MoonSwatch release but how difficult can it be to add a few different bezels as extra in the huge Omega Speedmaster chronograph box ?
