I've owned three auto QPs over the years from 1982-2024. Sold the last one last year at auction, bought it pre-owned in 2001 and saw an ROI of 6% per year, happy with that. They are quite thin at about 8mm, but very reliable, but I wouldn't let anyone but AP Service work on them. You can go about seven years between overhauls when timekeeping tails off (loss of about 30 sec/day, but calendar functions keep working fine), the last service was about $1,500, probably $1,800 to $2,000 now. Unless you know the service history plan for an overhaul soon.

I just remembered I still have a rectangular manual AP QP that is still working fine, I've had this one for about 10 years. A manual QP is not as convenient as an auto, but resetting it is no big deal if I haven't worn it in awhile.
