I keep thinking about getting one of these titanium Planet Oceans, but there's not a whole lot of reviews about ownership, or how people find the dial and the lume. Any thoughts on the watch would be welcome.

No specific comments about that precise model from direct experience - so just my observations. But have a tried the SS on for size. I have the earlier gen (non Master) Orange bezel as well as the SA/SG MCoAx Chrono PO and both are superb. Can’t say that that particular version is a standout model (my taste). But it is ‘different’ and would likely not come across too many in the wild. I expect it performs much the same as the other POs - only real difference will be the weight (Ti being lighter than SS) and the asthetic. I think it will very much depend on the light as to how good that it looks in the metal. In flat light it may well look a little dull. Certainly the orange will ‘pop’ more against the black and steel. I have seen photos where that one looks rather more fetching though.

Many of Omega’s website catalogue pics don’t flatter their watches. I’m partial to Orange but of the current mCoAx range I personally favour the black or blue dial variants. Whatever PO you pick up you can’t really go wrong in terms of it being a fantasic watch. So unless you particulrly need lighter weight or that asthetic speaks to you, then i’d personally pocket the saving and get the SS with the black dial.

All the best with your selection and hope you enjoy whatever you choose.

Simple adding 2c - i’m guessing I’ve probably not stated anything you did’nt already know.

You should hit up your local OB or AD and try one one. This is one of those watches with a dial that doesn't look good in photos but is a stunner in person.

The thickness will be the same regardless of colour combo. I struggle to get the PO under a dress shirt with buttons. Seems a futile exercise. Yes 16mm sounds about right. The chrono is even thicker at nearer 19mm. Though I did find some ‘stretchy’ cuff links which did the trick.

Do any of you guys know the weight of that watch compared with the steel 43.5? This is a key factor in my go/nogo decision but I can't seem to find that data anywhere including the Omega website? I own the 39.5 steel and it weighs 179 grams so I assume that this one should be in the 130-140 era.

Hi I just want to say that I own the new 43.5mm PO in blue and steel, which is the same case and overall design as this one.

And I must say, coming from my old 8500 PO 45.5mm the new POs are much much better on every aspect, the size and design, the bracelet and clasp, small changes that makes a world of difference, I will y just say that go for it and you'll be amazed 20190306_100518-01.jpeg 20190223_072744-01.jpeg 20190208_131527-01.jpeg 20190215_130721-01.jpeg

Definitely very updated compared to the older ones with 2500 movement only flaw I can think of is that the newer ones are thicker but that’s about it.

I personally don’t have a titanium PO but I have a friend who has one and it’s definitely a lot lighter than the non titanium versions. I have a 8500 45.5mm PO and it has some weight to it. It’s also kind of thick so that’s another thing to consider. FFDDEE25-7A1D-4727-8698-51DBA023F4EE.jpeg

I totally get what you say, but I think that the added thickness is due to the advantages of the new movements which are amazing, superb power reserve, anti magnetism and accuracy, I'll take a little thickness for those features

i recently bought it and has to say, this watch is amazing in person. I never considered it while looking at omega website, but after trying one, I couldn’t say no. Now need to add this grey/orange rubber strap :)

2 weeks ago, one day before comming on holidays to Greece, I bought the PO SS 43,5, which is technically identical with the Ti version, differing only in the weight and the optic. Originally I wanted the 39,5 version of this watch, but after trying it again and again at the OB, the 43,5 was clearly the winner, since in real life it feels smaller than 43,5, and with the metal bracelet it sits so confortable and well balanced in my 7" wrist, that it convinced me. Also, the thickness, which appeared to be a no go for me in theory, while doing my homework about POs, stopped bothering me the second I tried it on right away. The lume of the new POs is the best I have ever seen so far on any watch, beeing bright as a torch but looking elegant at the same time due to the the precise contour of the applied super luminova on all indexes, on top, it stays clearly readable after 8 hours of darkness. The precision of the caliber 8900 is overwhelming. During the first days it deviated some fractions of a second a day, but reading an excellent post in this forum from a member called Archer, I learned about self adjusting the watch through positioning at night, and found out which positions have which effect on this particular caliber.
One more thing I would like to add is my personal observation about the effect of any colours on the watch: appearently, the more colours you see on your watch, the sooner you will get tired of it. This is a very personal and subjective observation, but so clear to me, that it made me pick the black SS version.

This is my very first post and I hope it helps you or other people.

    Enjoy the hunt.

    Best regards, Marcelo.

What's wrong with a little thickness?

    SMPO Bracelet.jpg SMPO Side.jpg

Yeah, it's a chrono so it's gonna be a little thicker than the 300. It is in titanium so it's wonderfully light.
