People often pay too much for "barn finds" in bad condition in auctions on eBay/Goodwill. They get attached to the story instead of really looking at the watch. If the new owner cleans it up and tries to sell it privately, he would be lucky to get $10k-$11k IMO given the condition of the dial. These nipple-dial root-beer TT GMTs are nice watches, but have much narrower appeal than stainless/Pepsi examples. The values are not the same.

A wise man once said three things needed:
condition, condition, condition.

Tip: when buying a gold bezel watch pay sharp attention to the edge furrows. Being gold They wear much more severely then stainless and can be worn almost flat. This can indicate long or a hard life.

Feels pricey, but cheers to whomever paid the $14.5K for this one nonetheless.
