·The 2998-4 result was quite surprising to me. Can anyone think of a non-tropical -4 (or similar -3/-5) that were in that zip code? I cannot.

·The 105.002 wasn't ugly though, not the greatest but not an ugly watch. I'm surprised by the price achieved by the 2998, the 2915's didn't.

·Sorry for the mild necro, but I'm surprised the non-leaf 2998-4 going for $62,500 hasn't made more of a hubbub in these here parts. Just a collective curious shrug... This seems like a groundbreaking price for what looks like an extremely nice but not totally jaw dropping mid-2998. (Please let me know if I'm missing something spectacular about this particular piece.)
Are we really that convinced that this was just two overeager bidders? Or have nice mid/late-2998s really been achieving those heights in private collector deals lately?

·I've sold a couple 2998s over the past 12 months, and none were close to this... they were all roughly in line with speedmaster101 pricing though.
I'd suggest auctions like this are anomalous, and don't reflect the general rule.

Results like this make the Omega watches seem like bargains. That's so far beyond the orbit of Ludicrous, it's crossed interstellar space and is approaching "You-Can't-be Sirius".
