Anyone put standard Speedy hands on their FOIS...and are happy they did?

LewisWatcho based on the above comments about it being a “Lewis special.”

Thanks for that, I had a little surf and found the website but they claim that they don't and won't modify Omega watches 😵‍💫

from the FAQ section of the site:

Q. I have an Omega watch that I would like to modify, can LWC modify my watch or bracelet?

A. LWC will not modify a customers existing timepiece or bracelet.

Correct. That means you can’t send him your watch. I imagine if he accepted work like that, he would be inundated beyond belief. He builds watches to sell (the one above) with his own warranty and certificate, using OEM parts. You have to join his mailing list to see what he’s selling and the price.

I will join the mailing list and see what happens. its actually better this way as I get to keep my FOIS and possibly land one of these beauties.

You could also find a skilled watchmaker with an Omega parr’s account and see if he won’t do that for you...

If he has an Omega parts account, then yes.
As for Lewis, how is he able to maintain his parts account if he’s buying parts with the intention of building and selling custom omega branded watches?

Because he only uses genuine Omega parts and because he does not pretend these watches to be just out of Omega production lines. All brands should operate like this. Just meeting clients’ wishes and expectations.

Also Omega’s parent company is public so they’ll do anything for sales.

Found online, doesnt look that bad..

Looks ok that - I’m tempted to buy one myself, do the same and then order a flat link uncle seiko for a DIY Ed White lookalike, saving myself 8 grand in the process!

My personal opinion is that I would leave the hour and minute hands alone as as they are central to the FOIS character. I would however swap out the hand in the seconds sub dial to match the other sub dials

But that isn’t Omega’s wish. Watchco did something similar and basically no longer have a business.

I like the looks of it. It looks more like an ed white now then like a 2998.

Indeed, i like very much the look of the alpha hands, but i also like the readability of the baton hands. 😵‍💫

Yep. I'm a bit torn, because the polished FOIS hands are so striking in some lights, and actually highly legible in sunlight, in the manner of the Grand Seikos with faceted hands. The running second hand is the least so, but I rarely depend on it, and a quick change of hand angle brings it into focus nicely. On balance I think the factory handset suits the watch best, but it's great to see these variations up close.
