I was walking 47th street yesterday and a dealer showed this to me. Its not a watch for me but, if anyone wants it I will put you in touch with the Dealer. The condition looked unpolished and original...

I don't have anything at all for C shape Constellations, but this one with that bracelet is very nice indeed. The condition looks excellent too.

 

Sorry for the delay in responding, he wants $5000 for it. He's basing it on the price of gold and the weight of the watch. I explained to him that the movement isn't solid gold so the weight isn't accurate and he said he isn't selling it as scrap but, that scrap price was a starting point for his ask. I have no idea if its cheap or not, but thats what he wants.. Any interest PM me.

Gold is about $1250 an oz at the moment. So assuming it was all gold, that's $3750 worth of gold. And is there really that much love for a C cased Connie to add the extra $1250? Not saying it can't, but It does nothing for me, although it does appear to be a real fine example. Near mint, maybe a slight polish or 2, or maybe just bad pics. Either way, that's just my opinion. I have been known to be wrong in the past.

 

The guy is a old time watchmaker on 47th street. He probably bought it for 2000 or less figuring it was worth at least that much in scrap gold. He told me how much it weighed in penny weight but, I wasn't really interested. If the gold value is $3750 (as another poster stated) then I dont think he is crazy to ask 5k for it as a watch. It has to have more value than scrap. Regardless, its out there for anyone interested, no need to flame the guy for asking whatever it is he wants..
