Was looking at a few pics of these big bastards initially thinking they were put-togethers given the extreme size for a dress watch, then I saw the price at past auctions. Do any of you guys have one of these laying around for a wristshot? http://www.christies.com/lotfinder/...rare-and-large-stainless-5553850-details.aspx
That is huge! I thought my ref 2544/2545's were the largest diameter at 39mm, but this dwarfs those refs. Found this in the Omega Vintage Database under cal 37,6, described as "Aviator". Looks like it originated from a pocket watch style case. Really like the heavy wire solid lugs! http://www.omegawatches.com/planet-omega/heritage/vintage-watches-database?ref=20089
The aviator is a beast of a watch, but a few companies made those at the time, the really cool thing about the 2039 is that its a dress watch that's been photocopied at 150% or so. Interestingly while the steel version CK2039 is 44mm supposedly the gold cased OK2039 is even larger than this at nearly 45mm.
