I asked Longines about that, if I'll get an answer, I'll post it here to clarify the things.

To me an email with information is just as good as a printed extract. I have contacted them about a watch two weeks ago and still no reply, but fingers are crossed.....

Answer from Longines: the Extract is available for 120 CHF since March 11th as we know and they also send a mail with one or two points concerning the watch in question. It's because of the masses of requests the terms have been changing now.

May we ask what is the source of this information?
Many thanks

Sources are the screenshots posted earlier in this thread, they all only mention printed material. I haven't seen any mention anywhere of a paying email service yet.

Plus I shouldn't be the one providing sources, those who should are those saying email service is gonna be charged, from what I can read in this thread it's all "I heard of..." for now.

This is nothing about "I heard of...", this is the answer from Longines Heritage Service, so no further questions....

You say it yourself in your quote, they still send free emails concerning info on the watch. I'm not talking about extracts. Radiumpassion got recently his information for free.

Doesn't make sense to me.

Well they've been doing it for years... and I think they kind of benefit from it. For one it benefits greatly to their reputation, and I think it has a lot to do with how vintage Longines value rose up quickly these last fifteen years, collectors appreciate them so much.
But I think they also take a much more direct benefit, they seem to research and document their own history : they asked me one time additional high resolution pictures of one of my rarest pieces to keep those documents with them, so I guess they're also working on some archives with collector's requests.

@Seiji , @707mm2. I wonder if the email is a processing error that hasn't caught up to the new fee structure. There might be a disconnect between who sends the email, who sends the paper certificate and who collects the fee. I have alot of respect for the Longines product and strategy, but they occasionally have spelling errors and bad links on their web page, which makes me think a change in process might have missed a step.

But, just conjecture of course.

Yes, of course, the mail is for free as I mentioned before. As you can see on Radiumpassion's notice there are no more information about the invoice date and where it was sold. It is a reduced notice concerning the watch.

But now they mention the year of production, and I`m pretty sure they will give
me the invoice date/place if I follow up with a question.

I dont see how this can save them time and money馃榾

Just wanted to report my recent experience - I wrote to Longines last week, and they already got back to me today. But there was no information included anymore, just a note telling me that this kind of information would be available to me if I requested an extract from the archives for CHF 120.

Well. It was fun while it lasted; now Longines is the same as the other brands. I do get that this was time-intensive, and time is money, ... well okay, we've been over this a few times here.

Guess I'm just bemoaning my fate, since the watch I asked about spent two months in customs, and had it arrived earlier I would still have gotten my info. But this isn't the end of the world, I guess.

Oh no so sad... I still had many Longines to identify... now I regret so much waiting, I guess good things don't last for ever !

I think that I have only one Longines for which I failed to request an extract. Fortunately, it's not a historical watch, just a late 60s Ultra-Chron.

I just requested one for my Flagship I'm selling. Here is the first email I received.

To this I responded that I was writing to recieve the email extract, as I had heard it was still free. This was his response to that.

If I understood correctly, only certain people can receive information via email?

OP here.

I did eventually get my free printed extract from the archives, but I was very lucky and it must have been one of the last free ones ever issued. The CHF 120 fee was introduced on 11th March 2024.
