Anyone able to shed light on this Tri-Compax?

Hello all,

My dad can across one of his dad’s former watches. It was just floating around in a desk drawer and in rough condition. After seeing it I’ve tried to do some research but I would like to know if anyone else can fill me in on what we have.

It’s a reference number 22258, but I can’t find another version with the same dial/handset as this one. Have the hands been replaced, or even the dial at some point?

I appreciate any sort of feedback the pros here may have. As of now the watch is at a watch maker to be repaired and serviced. I can’t wait to actually get to wear it.

The reference number only designates the case, not the dial or handset, part of what makes UG interesting!

it looks like a very nice all original Tri from what I can see. Service it, replace the crystal, don’t touch anything else.

Congratulations on having such an nice family watch, enjoy !

You are correct, my poor picture taking skills do not do this watch justice. I’ll be sure to post better pics once I get it back.

It will clean up nicely. Where do you live so we can steer you to a watchmaker? I think it may be missing the rehaut, inner metal ring between the dial and crystal. The watchmaker you choose may have to either source or make something to fit.

Thanks for in info. I’m in Lancaster PA. The watch is currently in the hands of the guys at Lititz Watch & Jewelry. They serviced my Omega Chronostop and did a great job with that.

Wow. I’d give this to Roland Murphy and co at RGM. They are right In your backyard and very good with UG restoration. Used to spend a fair amount of time in Lititz at the Listerine plant when it was Warner Lambert. Lovely town.

Ditto what Larry said! RGM is literally in your backyard, and they’ve serviced several of my Tri-Compax. It’s a bit rough around the edges as you can see, but with some expert TLC, might clean up nicely.
