Seller has a pretty standard array of items up for auction - baby clothes, smart phone, breast pump, fat-arrow RAF Omega
haha yeah which kind of makes his story make sense but could make getting pics of movement very difficult!
Seller doesnt know about vintage watches and says he cant open it up I said I recomend taking it to local watch maker opening it up and taking a few pics.
Hope he does, will be interesting to see, if his description all stacks up even the doohickey should be there. He sure takes his pics fast judging by the time in the images
Been in touch with him....he said he will let the auction run as is so i think too much of a gamble at that price given case condition
Well if I thought I could increase interest/cash the back would be off and a few pics asap. Strange response, with you I would walk. Others will show.
My thinking is simple - for the RAF'53 it's thin arrow all day everyday over the fat arrow - whether it is an original TA or one with a Bienne replacement TA dial (which is actually more uncommon than the original TA dial watches) I know there are price considerations but better to save up the money and search long and hard for a nice thin arrow. .I've said it before and I'll say it again -the TA watches are among the most undervalued of all vintage omegas - they are very uncommon (especially in nice condition - I would estimate perhaps there are less than 100 nice original dial TAs (probably less than 50) around and less than 50 with the Bienne replacement TA dials) and they have a lot of desirable features - the omega brand, the fact it is a military watch, it is anitmagnetic , it is a nice size - 37mm in diameter without crown, and was the immediate precursor of the Railmaster.
Out of interest how many FA are out there? I am very happy with my TA and at some point would love to add anoher ideally in a touch better condition.
A total of 5,900 Omega RAF'53 watches were ordered the vast majority of which (probably over 90% exist with FA dials). Now of the ones with the original TA dial intact, most of these watches are not in very good shape that's why I estimate less than 100 and probably fewer are in very good original condition.
Nice TA just sold on Ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/A-RARE-GENT...7l9dqbqAd956EPpuNA8UQ%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=ncPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
