Hi all. Patrick here… a new member. I am in search of a nice condition original Omega 60 in Burgundy and came across this piece below. Chris N recommended I share with the forum in the hopes of insight from those far more informed here. Any insight into the watch of the seller would be greatly appreciated! Thank you and lovely weekend all. Patrick

Hi Patrick, welcome to the forum.

You'll get a much better response if you post photos and not just a link.

Maximilian is a good story teller. He realized, that vintage watch lovers not only buy watches, they love stories attached to them.... And that costs a bit more. On a side note: look at the vintage Omega triple moon. The heaped praise on the best dial refinisher seems very overstated. It's a lousy repaint job. The white day numerals have bursted bubbles. The minute track is rather bad as well .

You are not going to hear a lot of positives about the seller. I didn't click on the link.

Great points about the pics. Please find attached . Thank you so much for the feedback and advice!!. Yes Maximillian does spin a good yarn … a pattern is emerging and the watch seems too clean for its age. If anyone knows of any other examples worth looking at, I would be very grateful if you let me know.
Best…Patrick

Service rotor and parts from multiple movements? Asking the experts.

what leads me to say is that the colours are all mismatched.

Service rotor apparently, but not such a big deal in a watch like this IMO. I would just never even consider doing business with this seller.

Sorry, you're absolutely right about the service rotor, and for some people that would be a big deal. It's just my feeling that it's not uncommon to replace a rotor during service to repair the watch, and on a watch like this, the visible cosmetic parts are much more important.

The hands are also wrong. The minute/hour hand seem to be from a Dynamic. These had white batton hands and silver second hands.

Frankly, this is a hard model/color to find in good shape recently. I have been looking for one for over a year and they almost always are either overpriced (compared to the blue ones 1.5x to 2x the price) or have some major condition problems. A year ago, there was only one available online. Recently a few more have popped up, but they are priced pretty high and just sit and don't sell.

Your best bet is to just keep looking and see what becomes available for sale. Unless you want to pay a premium and make some concessions on condition, expect to wait a while.

Personally for me a service rotor is still an omega one. For it to be replaced means the original had it at one point so best to be replaced with original parts.

the line markings on the bridge plates all need to sort of line up or that doesn’t matter too much? I know if the plated colours are all different then it’s had parts from a few different ones.

Can't beIieve I missed the hands when I quickly looked at the photos yesterday... The seconds hand is also obviously wrong. Sorry @PMcI

Good luck with the hunt.

At first glance it looks like a nice example.
At second glance, well… as said the hands are wrong. The case has been polished. The movement has been reassembled from parts. The watch used to have a steel bracelet which is missing.
What puzzles me most is that the dial and bezel look so new compared to the rest of the parts. There is something not right here. And for that kind of money you would want it to be straight.

Patrick , I had one of these , and sold in years ago for not much money . Have you actually tried one in the flesh - you must do before buying. Too small for me. In my mind I would look out for something like a Seamaster 300 either vintage or modern .

It depends on your wrist size I suppose, I find it perfect on my skinny 7” wrist.
Thanks to ChrisN for parting with this, it’s still one of my favourites.

I have not yet tried it but, like Noddy, my wrists are custom made for the 36-41 area and not much bigger. I will try to find one locally to try on but I trust it will look great and I will be thrilled. That watch is lovely Noddy well done !
