    Hi all,

I just purchased this watch but I can't find much information about it. only this website which has sold one:

    http://watchxchange.london/products/buy-preowned-omega-geneve-racing-steel-watch

Unfortunately I can't get the back open but apparently there's a cal. 601 inside (which has been serviced I was told by the old son who sold his deceased fathers watch).

He was told it was sold in Canada in a limited edition. Is this true?

I just got home so here are some quick pictures. The dial is really in perfect condition. Original plexi as wel. case is ok, caseback is bad.

    All info is welcome!

I see a few inconsistencies with your watch compared to the description on the Facebook pic.
1: Different hands on your watch. The description mentions steel baton hands, no mention of luminous material. The hands on your watch are luminous.
2: If your watch doesn't have luminous hands, why would it need luminous hour plots. Your dial has luminous plots.
If you look closely at the watch on right (1539), they mention luminous hands in the description of that particular model so your description should mention luminous components also. If you think that description for your watch is accurate, then I'd have to say your dial was redone and hands replaced or painted. This of course is only my opinion and totally depends on the accuracy of the literature you've provided from Facebook.

Dear Italy. Thanks for the remarks but I have to disagree.

The add also describes that there are different versions of the watch (in different price ranges). Moreover, the hands do have lume on it (and after blacklight they still light up a bit).

    Cheers

That's what makes this forum great, people can agree to disagree.. Possibly the only way to be sure would be an to contact Omega and get an extract of the archives.. Maybe some of the more knowledgeable members have more insight on this particular reference. I never was aware this model existed until coming across this thread and Google doesn't provide much help either.. Would of been nice to have the checkered band shown in the pic!

An extract of the archives will not tell you if the hands should have lume or not..

Notoriously difficult to make determinations based on a scanned advert, but I'm fairly sure that I can see some lume dots, including a double dot over the 12 position when I zoom in. Logically therefore, the hands would have been lumed as well. The do seem to be somewhat thicker than the impression given by the advert though. Perhaps oem/retailer replacements?

*edit* Looking about at images on the web, the hands seem pretty much right for Geneves inc. Chronostops of the period.

The extract would indicate luminous material on the dial. Therefore, you'd logically have luminous hands..

    Like the discussion haha

Lume lights up all even on both the hands and the plots.

Given the condition of the dial v caseback and the strength and uniformity of the lume, I'd suspect a pretty good dial restoration has been carried out at some point. If so, I like the result.

If that dial is redone, I'd like to know the artist who did it.

Now that I see the dial charged, a watch from late 60's early 70's would never glow that brightly.. Especially the hands.
