I fished a vintage 2867-2 out of the 'bay a while back. Haven't taken a photo yet (it's in for CLA), but it runs, and looks great after a new OEM crystal was installed. I'm thrilled to have a vintage dress watch that measures 38(!)mm.

I tried the Omega site with the ref, but no results were found. A Google-search was also unproductive. Any info on these? Dates manufactured (serial puts it at 1960)?

Also curious to see any other vintage dress (non-diver) examples that measure 37mm or greater. I should prob. start a new thread for that...

    Thanks in advance!

Yes, you can see how that would clean up well!

This should be 37mm with the crown. The dial does not belong to this case...

It does seem odd that the "swiss made" at the 6 appears to be 2/3rds covered.

Wish I asked while I had it to look at!

The info, opinion, and honesty are appreciated, even if it's a "harsh" truth.

I replaced the yellowing, crazed, scratched crystal with an Omega crystal. It was ordered based on the case reference, and has a date magnifier on the inside. The new one has a white metal tension ring instead of the yellow one I replaced.

It fits and the magnifier is centered over the date. I don't recall if the new tension ring obscures "Swiss Made." Maybe it is supposed to be a cemented crystal, not a tension fit?

Sohail (nice to see you if you bought my white dial Daytona, nice to meet you if that wasn't you!): what tips you off on the dial? It does measure 38mm without the crown. Here's the back if it helps?

Thanks again for all the info!

I'm not to familiar with this model, but Watchco also lists a dial with Calendar on it for a Ref. 2867.

The dial looks kosher to me. The last W on SWISS ends under the 6 marker like it should.

Are you sure the case is 38mm excluding the crown?

I am beginning to doubt what I remember! I do recall being pleasantly surprised it was actually as big as advertised, which was 38mm.

In the pictures looks more like a 36mm case without crown.

Yeah, proportionally, is looks 36, I agree. Especially considering the c.503 is 28.5mm. Doesn't look like 5mm on each side, does it? Maybe...

Man! I told my watch guy to take his time (charges less). I may not see it until September and I took it in weeks ago!

FINALLY HOME after 4 months with my watch guy! And guess what...[IMG]

And just for scale, my 38mm Omega next to a 36mm Rolex Datejust

So, now that you've had months to forget about it, I mean, think about it :)

    Any opinions/info?

Adding close up of Swiss Made. It's there but partly obscured by the OEM crystal tension ring.

Your watch guy did a great job! The size of that case is unusual, but definitely bigger that the DJ...watch for case envy!;)

I'll take the credit for what you see ;)
My watch guy was under strict orders not to perform any restorative services to the dial and case (which has a beautiful satin gray patina only the passing of decades can create!) He cleaned and timed the movement, and fitted an OEM crown. When I get a chance, I'm taking a scratch pen to the crown to tone it down a bit. It and the crystal tension ring are so shiny they upset the vintage look a bit. But I'll live...

    That's a huge case! I think that's uncommon for a Seamaster. Nice watch! ;)
